and if you take a look at the people who do this pop fullon crap (there is definitely also very good full on music - the last suria double album for example) you notice that it´s a completely different type of personality/ mentality:
"sunnyboys", egoed-out, materialist, poppers, macho-like assholes etc. - won´t mention anyone again...
this has nothing to do with freaky babas or normal music enthusiasts...

Stereotypes are evil but here you right . Just i don't know what better to be macho or baba .

If we want to still consider this music psychedelic trance, then the evolution needs to continue pushing the boundaries of what we call music.
For example, I had the pleasure of attending a Goa Gill party last weekend in northern california. What I heard with some of the tracks he was playing was beyond music. beyond a fat bass, beyond melody... at times there wasn't even a defined kick, it was a blurry pulse of sound. and no, I wasn't frying or on mushrooms, but the music/sounds made me feel like I was.

As for fullon pop and all that other stuff, I think that's what the mainstream will be listening to, in the big mainstream events sponsored by big companies. I think it's best we begin alienating that from what we love. I keep bringing up punk rock as an example, but I see psytrance going the same way. The mainstream will take the fluffy shit and the genuine psychedelic trance voyagers will take the music even deeper.

Ok my opinion its happening right now , bigger steps in evolution of psy music , bpm grows ... Guys like Cosmo , G.O.W , Wizard Lizard , Double R.e.l seem to be producing stuff at 150 bpm
And new patterns in music u can hear with some new wave artist like Kemic-al, Psypeyote and many other not widely known yet artists ... and this music I believe is more underground and more old school Goa trance, then full on, proggy or other such stuff
And now there is many new released cd’s that introducing new , strong , powerful sound to the public, which makes other kind of music seem like a blurred reflection in a an old dusty mirror

totally agree mate!!!!!
this is what´s happening right now and therefore we experience a strange situation - i call it separation of scenes.
the funny thing about it is that psychedelic trance allready is the underground of a subculture
(electronic music-techno-psychedelic trance)
but now the subgenres go even deeper, cause now it´s gonna be like:
electronic music

1.techno (subculture)
2.psychedelic trance(sub-subculture)

2.1.popular
=cheesy fullon, fluffy easy listening, uk trance, etc.

2.2.underground =darkpsy, freaky music, psybreaks, industrial trance, goatrance, acid, atmospheric soundtracklike techtrance etc.

this is "the underground of a sub-subulture hehe

how deep will we dig???

Ambient/chill with a 4 on the floor beat and a layer of congas and african drums in another time signature... hehe... who knows whats next....

i think an awareness of mind altering frequencies is the future for psytrance...

artists needs to become scientists in a deeper way...

and i need to sleep....

the psychedelic thing has to go back underground.
then we won´t need to think about an innovation, cause in the underground variety flourishes automatically.
it´s only the money and the ego thing that makes the music boring (standardization; getting rid of everything too unusual in order not to endanger the sales).

well identified here. very harsh posts about full on, but i understand as full on is a roll and it doesnt seem to stop. It dominates other kinds of music and the artists are led to produce always "dancefloor killer" stuff and gives us releases which were not made from emotions.

He...he...he... Relax, chill out... there is many small labels promoting heavy psytrance music... The fact is that u need to look for them... you can find many project that promote/distribute a trance music "different" from the "dancefloor" mainstream you find generally.
Now, i want to be honnest, Label alsorespond to a specific demand at a precise time...things changes all the time... When it's gonna be all mental psy, then u gonna find people complaining the other ways...
As long as you can find the music you trip on, the movement is alive, the day you will onely find a few big label and no more small independant project... Well, I hope I will be dead since long by then ;-)
Take care... and keep on looking!

Everything can fit in trance, as long as its in the right context...bla bla bla bla

vocal trance is for sure something that would be interesting...

preferably live! more feeling that way....

I mean like hummms and ahhhhhhhh´s.. and ooohhhhh´s that compliment the other instruments...... That must be vocal trance?
i wouldn´t want to make a pop trance song

not for this idea i just got...hehe

The future is in making the music more political. This is not easy as most people find vocals in trance too distracting, be they diva or rock style. All major movements, punk, hippy, etc. have had a political element to their music. That is what propelled the culture from just music to a whole Movement...I personally am working on producing music like this, but the future is the future for a reason

What (the hell!) does it matter if this element or that element is different? It doesn't change the whole perception by not even one bit !

What needs to be changed ASAP is the diversity and quality. Even out the quantities...
Introducing a more softer trance - deeper, in contrast to the agressiveness/shallowness.           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

I am not a fan of vocals in trance, if I want singing I listen to other styles of music.
I think it would by terrible if there would be a political message vocalised in trance (sorry liamshy).
For me there don´t need to be words in the music to pass on a message. If you dance all night into the morning, get into trance, make psychdelic experiences, feel the music, then that has imo a much bigger message and influence on the people than words.

How the future music will or should sound like? Dunno. But I believe that there are artists out there, that are not concerned with marketing of a product (music), but enjoy playing and experimenting with sounds and that they will keep on producing interesting, exciting, fun tunes for us.

I made this thread in order to see any good ideas that we can develope our music, unfortunately it's hard to invent something original nowadays...my idea to search for more intricate sounds more detail of the Trippy world and maybe in the future we can get a total visual deco trip also in the festivals like big 3d screens projecting animations of another fantasy place plus the music to go with that! My idea it's just a dream i will follow!           Your sound, is your music, is your soul keep them all on the right track!
