i have friends who really don´t like at all what i´m so much into.
are you familiar whith that problem or am i pretty alone with that?
they laugh about the music, the mushroom decoration, the way to see things through the mystic perspective etc.
every try to introduce them into weird beats igets rejected. the most profoud and interesting tracks are called simple, boring and not innovative at all...
and believe me, i´m not the type of missionary who provokes such a reaction. i open myself to their strange music that is often very boring to me...
our scene is seen as something ridiculous in the eyes of many people...
but as wittgenstein says: we must keep silent when it comes to things you cannot talk about (mystics). are we that esoteric??? |

so what's the problem,dude?
If your friends dont like trance at all ,aren't they
your friends less ? If yes , i think you must dig into yourself first of all and answer the question
"what is trance for me,just music i like or smth
deeper , culture or even worldview maybe...?"
I dont think that music you like may generate the
terrible problems in your communications , some ppl like rap for example,however they could be very good friends |

Well my answer won't deal exactly with your point Gerald but is still indirectly connected..
I have quite often discussions with Techno or HardTeck lovers. They use to say that Psytrance is too soft.. So I try to explain them that I was basically feeling the same before experiencing really this Music... I tell them there are different "styles" of Psytrance and that there are tracks that are truely floorburners (to the point that I had never felt such a sonic "energy" when I used to go in Techno parties in the mid 90s - Can't forget in example moments of Tarsis live at Zoom) .. And then I tease them about the boredom in Techno Music.. illustrating that when I go out in Techno today, I still know nearly an half of the tracks played there...
The result of it is simply that people consider what they (think to) know as THE truth.. and especially in the night-life, because you're young, and just want to have fun, without thinking too much !
Now about criticizers one can't really tell... some are making me laugh quite hard, and some others far less and interest me.. This depends of their background in fact.

dude its just about taste Just do not make it sound like psytrance > all music because they will always think their music > all music like how we think that psytrance > all music (just keep this to yourself  but never tell them that)  |

some of my friends wouldn't go with me 2 psytrance party just because they are into hooking-up with girls and for them a party with some sexy music such as hip-hop is a better solution. this freaks me out! if they only could realize that sometimes party can be more than getting some...and besides, there are great girls in the psytrance scene too, so it's their loss.

WELL MA FRIEND its as simple as that.........
if a track which according to you is the most amazing tracks *ever*,if you friends feel there is nothing especial with it......that doent mean its a bad track,its just that it takes a few times n more to like the music n get into the vibe of it...i am sure if you make them listen for a few times on a regular basis they will slowly understand what *psychedelic trance * is all about........
n BTW its one *genre* of music so you gotta respect what they like........

drive a couple of hours to Holland or call some one up near u that has some good Hawaiin shrooms....grind them in to dust.....mix it in the drinks u serve them when they are at your place(ofcourse dont say a word) and play some good old Simon Posford...if that doesnt work...nothing will...but at least they will "eat some movies"(i know u Germans allso use this expression not only in Israel)and be punished for dissing your love

Find another subjects to talk because some of you are obsessive about music tastes(you or them i don't know) , i never speak with "non trance friends" about it .
How i speak with friends , how you do ? how with girls , work , other daily bullshit . I don't start talk like yo mate i heard new Talamaska !.!.!
Also i advice not to talk about trance at all , because it becomes daily life form and i think it is pretty fucked up reality to talk only about music .
If you do care about your relationship , try to avoid such nonsense talks .

Laugh about what they like,or just forgive about it.
A few things for me are more pathetic than an closed-mind person,so....I have a problem with this kind of people not because they don't like trance,it's not my mission to convince anybody about my taste with me is fair enough,and there is no final truth.

i am a friend of deejayridoo and i personally dont like psytrance wich is played since few years because i see nothing in this music right now. in the 10 years ago the scene was more experimental and much more fun and it was for me more psy than it is today. I was only on one or two psytrance partys few months ago and it was only hardcore music, nearly techno the. for me it comes close to hardcore music because i listen for few years to more quite music and subtible aggresion and angst. but this is personaly as other people listen to other sorts of music. but psytrance music has a problem, because of the structure of its self. maybe it would be no problem for a pofessional producer to create this music in 1 - 2 houres. Because of its structure. And this music played today in the scene creates nothing in me. it is always hard, hard hard. they say they feel the spirit while dancing and listening and using drugs. But what if, when they dont use drugs. Is this music also efectiv this way?
