I have come to realise lately that there isnt much tolerance in the SA scene for freedom of opinion and speech as well as the respect for this...
now i know i will probably get bashed for saying this...(continuing to prove this point of view by the community)
but it just seems that no one tolerates this...and if you aren't in line with what everyone else thinks,....you are WRONG and get attacked...
psy trance (goa trance) is built on the ideologies of this freedom.. and the whole mindset to the scene should hold this freedom at its utmost priotiry...
psychedelic the word comes from the greek root word 'pysch- ' which means 'mind,soul' , the very root of the name of the scene has got everything to do with having an openiness to the mind and soul..
however it seems most of the community are VERY VERY close-minded
numerous examples exsist on this forum...
So the crux or the question to this thread is...
Honestly do you think that Freedom of Speech and Opinion exsists within our scene?? |

opinion is vital to the scene, as it revolves around taste (in both music and social activities).
speech, and the freedom thereof, have no real relevance to psytrance, or the psytrance scene.. it has nothing to do with music production, party promotion, and the enjoyment of the products of both, unless applied in an very general way.
people must just respect other people, and thats it. nobody should be censored, and at the same time nobody should insult other people mindlessly.. whether personally, or for their tastes.
I think this topic is pointless.. because peace-makers will always contradict the outspoken people, and vice-versa... because people are just inherently different.
i understand your frustration of when a non-music-related comment which is mildly controversial is shut down, but only let it frustrate you if its unsubstantiated. some people 'attack' comments which aren't 'in line' with well reasoned responses, and then getb branded 'closed minded' merely for disagreeing... which perpetuates the problem. they're expressing their thoughts which aren't in line with your's. its the people who give no reasons and say things like 'stop whining' or 'stop being negative' which bother me. who gives them the right to judge what is, in fact, 'negative'? isn't that all subjective anyway?
basically, despite the above, i do agree with you l337. this is a soulfull, mind-orientated 'scene' and can be stifled at times by certain people. however, at the same time, i'm also tired of people bashing the lighter ('fluffier') artists, or local artists, or any artist for whatever reason, as if their opinion is more important than the next. it becomes boring reading how shit an entire label is in someone's opinion, merely because its daytime, or full-on, or progressive. just accept other people like other things.
de gustibus non disputandum est.
basically i love open, respectful substantiated debate about anything and eveything, because its generally intelligent and educational. so i hate stifling of thoughts by head-in-the-sand only-say-nice-things people.
just respect everyone.

but then again, you did apologise and say you would stop and be positive.. although not given a chance to show whether you were sincere. which was probably not fair, but then again publically saying you want to kill an artist who disagrees with you doesnt deserve fairness.

the public thing abour killing the artist was before the appology (correct me if i am wrong) in all fairness...
i think everyone needs a bit of space to grow and find themselves...
