It's fantastic! Hoping the GE will be released next week. Now I'm alpha testing the FeedbackCompIII           http://hermetechmastering.com : http://www.discogs.com/artist/Gregg+Janman : http://soundcloud.com/babaluma

It's great, the only digital HPF I use now. I used to use the Baxter plugin a couple of years ago, but stopped when I got the hardware Dangerous Music Bax EQ. Back then I was doing most of my digital HPF in DDMF LP10, then I upgraded to DMGEQuilibrium, which was noticeably better, but since getting SlickEQ, EQuilibrium hasn't got a look in. Of course EQuilibrium is much more versatile, but SlickEQ is just so quick and easy to setup/use, and sounds every bit as good, that it's basically the only digital EQ I'm using at the moment.           http://hermetechmastering.com : http://www.discogs.com/artist/Gregg+Janman : http://soundcloud.com/babaluma

BTW I am purely talking about a mastering context here. I only use a HPF about half the time, and when I do it never goes above about 36Hz. If you want it for tracking/mixing your mileage may vary!           http://hermetechmastering.com : http://www.discogs.com/artist/Gregg+Janman : http://soundcloud.com/babaluma

Still haven't checked the paid for version, but really like the simpler one. Nice broad strokes kind of EQ, very smooth sounding and the exciters can add a little nuance to it that really sounds good if you (guys) pay attention to the volume you feed the plug-in with. Yeah, for this kind you really should obsess a little about your gain staging...

(I know I always do...)

Will probably get the new one soon, maybe this weekend and give it a try and report back. cheers

GE version is great as you have Japanese mode which has the more surgical narrow cuts. Loads of other extra stuff too. Really worth the money.

You don't need to worry too much about gain staging for saturation, as that is what the "Calibrate" control is for. At 0dB the harmonics are way, way low (pretty imperceivable), while at +18dB they are much more noticeable, especially with the two new more obvious output saturation modes for exciter and transformer style saturation.           http://hermetechmastering.com : http://www.discogs.com/artist/Gregg+Janman : http://soundcloud.com/babaluma

yes tested the free one, for lowcutting, really recommended, same class as uad cambridge. maybe a bit better. this will often replace uad cambridge leaving me processing power on the (small) uad card (dongle) i have.           http://soundcloud.com/vipal

and... FeedbackCompIII with external sidechain input would be a killer           http://soundcloud.com/vipal

Glad you are digging the SlickEQ's HPF!

Don't think FBCompIII will have external sidechain input, as it's just for mastering and already includes an internal HPF side chain, as well as two new controls for TIMBRE and TONE (see Fabien's recent posts on this over at KVR).

BUT... they are also working on a low latency tracking/mixing compressor which I assume will have an external side chain.           http://hermetechmastering.com : http://www.discogs.com/artist/Gregg+Janman : http://soundcloud.com/babaluma
