Looks very nice!
There's two options on the High Pass, is it between resonant and non-resonant? or just slope options? the two for the Low Pass look different; Tilt is a very nice addition!
are you beta testing this one as well? keep us posted m8! |

Not sure on the HP, but yes, looks like it should also offer a slightly resonant mode so you get a little peak just above the cutoff. Not sure on the LP options either, would imagine just different slopes, 12 and 24 dB per octave maybe?
It should all be made clear soon. It's in Alpha at the moment, but apparently us Beta testers will receive a version very soon, so yes, I can't wait! And price is set to be around €30.

all of the new features are great, and very cleverly thought out.
the japanese curves finally give it the ability to do surgical cuts.
the tilt is the best implemented i have found so far (i have tried the elysia one and the DMG one previously). i asked them to make it really sensitive/precise, as a little can go a very long way, and they did just that (it can go from - to + 3dB). the crazy "V" shape mode is unlike anything i've ever seen before. it's basically like a "loudness/smiley curve" control on old hi-fis, only you can choose the amount and the mid/fulcrum point. or you can use it as a mid bump. all great for mastering or voice over duties etc.
the two new saturation models are great, probably won't use them in mastering as they are deliberately more coloured sounding. one is good for more distorted sounds, and the other supposedly replicates transformer saturation. good thing is with the "calibrate" control you can pull it right back or push it until it's really audible.
LPF is good, although not so much need for it here yet. the "tape bump" mode on the HPF has come in useful. it gives a little boost an octave above the cutoff, so you can set it at about half the frequency of the bass line/kick drum and it gives a little boost to the audible bass while cutting out the subsonic stuff.
the auto make-up gain is as always just an AMAZING thing to work with, and saves so much time trying to a/b with before and after EQ at volume matched gains etc. really great tool to hear what it's REALLY doing to the sound at the flick of a switch.
since it came EQuilibrium hasn't got a look in. it really is that versatile. i've been using it all week on everything! very, very happy with it! will be $40 i think. release should be pretty soon.

nice
it's kind of strange that it's so cheap. the free one sounds like proper high end to me, better then most paid for EQs out there - by more then a mile.
I guess there's not much hype to this stuff 'cause you need some experience in order to appreciate the little nuances over the material, a little goes a long way yes. About the tilt, I've been exploring the DMG one, but more like a "balance test" during mastering, usually doesn't make it to the end/gets replaced with other curves. But it kind of makes sense that if you raise something while lowering other stuff, much smaller values are needed and much better results obtained - I verify this more and more as my experience grows.
The other tilt I have available here is from softube, curves must be a lot different as they sound a lot different, it's also a very cool one if you ask me. Usually like their stuff to.
DMG is currently my main go to tool for more surgical stuff (on entire mixes), like all the control in there. but I can combine it with others I know the curves well, and SlickEQ has earned its way in that list and probably will stick in there until I get the paid version |

Just downloaded this. It's fantastic.
Better than PSP NobleQ, my go-to "mojo" EQ (about $100).
As mentioned by everyone else, DMG Equilibrium is a beast, but in its best modes it can be CPU intensive. I'm now using this freebie on a lot of shelving/HP duties, and it's exactly what the doctor ordered.
