"FG sounds like ZL" is not constructive criticism.....
cronstructive criticism, would be u explaining how u think FG could maybe better his sound or sumthing like this (i know i learned about constructive criticism the hard way lol)
maybe give sum track references where u think it stands out where their styles are similar (i still dont think they are :])
psy trance is what u want it to be, no1 can tell you how to experience the party, but u told us all that FG and ZL sound the same, and ur proof is in the pudding mate

What I can say is that I find harder to find good SA tracks from good artists than before

Sometimes someone makes really good tracks, otherwhise too repetitive or without the originality that got the release in the years before

I gotta agree with that.

Although its not just SA. Its EVERYWHERE.

The initial release i find is really original and quirky in that artists own way.

Then the second and third album sucks cock.

Although the production is usually better etc ....it kinda seems to lose its originality.

I am generalising .....sure.....but check it out....thats how it is!

a lot of the stuff getting released these days on timecode and nexus is boring. sure, it gets harder to become original once a 'sound' has been explored for so many years. shift, slug.. these guys were huge in achieving and realising that sound in the first place. but guys today are loafing off of it. fat bass lines, screeching synths, but nothing NEW is being said. i think a lot of people 'dig' the new stuff just because they dig the parties - they dig jumping around like crazy to the linguist and L & F (who doesn't?!) and they don't want the carnage to stop. but i question how much thought is going into a lot of the stuff coming out. it worries me that guys are saying they can write a song in a few days. is there a real philosophy of: 'what am i going to do in this song that makes it more than just a headbanger, but a track that has done something new - takes the listener to an unexplored, interesting sonic space?'

listening to headroom and artifakt's new albums: these are guys who are always pushing the boundaries. sure it's headroom's first album, so his sound does not feel stagnant. but besides for his kick-ass bassline sound, compare his psychedelic effects, swirling melodies, and little subtle flavours to tracks on Timecode's future cuts..

anyway, one way i will distinguish myself from rex trueform, is that i'm not asking the artists to change their ways. frankly, you can't instruct people to be creative. if it's not happening well it's not happening. i'm just hoping for more artifakts and scorbs to come along..

just want to add, cos i see i could be misunderstood.

i do accept that there are a lot of people who genuinely appreciate the bulk of what's coming out because they love it, and not for the ulterior reasons I was suggesting

Hmmmm .. every time i login to isratrance i dislike the psyscene a little bit more .. everyone's always whining and moaning .. if it's not about some label / production f%$#ing some poor artist over .. its sumone bitching that the scene is stale .. jeez i've been going to trance parties for 10 years now .. and sure its all changed and ideas are getting fewer cause they've all been done .. but i am really still enjoying it !! i guess it might be cause i try not to take it too seriously .. as soon as u over analyze sumthin u gonna find fault !!

anyway .. my 2 cents .. and i think i'm gonna keep off this forum for a while ..

look ZL, i'm really not trying to fuck artists over or bitch and whine for the sake of it. And you have put out quality stuff dude, and your sets are usually nothing short of destructive.

but it is my hope that with music it never reaches the stage when all the ideas have been done. that is surely the beauty of it

Very true. I for one did enjoy some tracks of Future Cuts but most of em r pretty much again the tried and tested formula. And why is that critisicm is hard for ppl here to deal with? I dont think anybody here is just trying to bash any artist... but on the contrary ... they are just pointing out things which cld be taken into consideration.
Ultimately its the people who buy the music and are entitled to their opinions becoz they want quality. i dont think these comments are to be taken as an offence , but as a step to push tht little boundary a little further.

But you see, thats what people like. I for one enjoy fat bass lines and synths. Some of the too experimental stuff you cant dance to (at least thats what i find). It may be tried and tested a lot, but its what the "majority" enjoys. And if you are not in that "majority", then there ARE still other artists (artifakt) trying new things. Take a while to look around, maybe you will find an artist you really like

So true man, and thats the beauty about it - everyone's got their OWN opinion.
I like to think that various people might hear the same song differently from eatchother. But then again, I'm just a tweaker.
Power to Rex Trueform for starting a cool thread and sticking his guns when it came to his opnion! But what were you on about Frozen Ghost and Zion Linguist sounding similair aye?
Whatever...
