i don´t have proper speakers at the moment but sounds like normal saw kbbb bassline with good and balanced low end . try a short decay on amp envelope . and for the pump feeling try a bit side chain, or play with the bass velocity . if y are a beginner

you have your treasure here :

hope it helps. cheers           thoughts become things

yeah, it could very well be vb-1.

but anyways:

short decay on filter envelope like said above. a touch of release will be needed to get this character. 24dB slope, no resonance. if you get just the click and no meat, add some sustain to it (the filter envelope, that is); but really depends on filter cutt off position, the amount of filter envelope mod and all of that.

filter cuttoff position kind of low, the amount is also not much.

then it's all about EQ! have fun!

Very nice track, thanks for sharing it.

I think its not VB, when i have used a lot that synth and it has no low end, and it sound is more loose than here, or else top of VB there is a lot of more effects here. This has very tight envelope, more cubic and lot of low end, i like these low basses a lot in every genre. It has to be very carefully to eq if you want to achieve that clean and tight low end, and you need proper monitoring also for that..

Here is most of your answer:

http://trancemusicmastery.com/how-to-create-a-trance-rolling-bassline-504

Couple of tips. Once you have created your psy bassline patterns as per the above website, export them to midi files for easy access later! Makes it much quicker to get ideas flowing when you don't have to waste time designing patterns!

Now with regards to VST synths, I have them all! Alien303, Trilogy, VB-1, Novation Bass Station, Absynth, Sylenth etc etc but today, I trialed then purchased Psytrance Bass X1 found here:

http://www.123creative.com/plug-ins-synthesizers/498-psytrance-bass-x1-vst-basslinesynthesizer.html

Cost me AUS$15. This thing is dedicated to modern Psy bass sounds and is bloody simple! Saves you a hell of a lot of time as most of the presets are good as they are (no modifying needed). I was looking to buy a Moog Minitaur but this thing one the prize haha!

Naa theres no side chaining here. Well not on the bass. The bassline is bouncing all around the kicks.

I think there is. You don't need more then 3dB of gain reduction though, it's a subtle effect.

Yeah maybe. I couldn't hear any pumping sounds but didn't analyse it thoroughly.

Another trick you can try if you are are not hearing your kick through the mix is to use a gate on the bass each time the kick hits (a technique I haven't used personally but know about it) or go through and lower the velocity of each bass note that hits in time with the kick.

IMO, the pumping sound caused by sidechain compression has been used to death and gets a little tiring. Always nice to try different techniques

There is sidechaining, that and a word, Arjunas basslines are extremely clean! I am wondering at times as to how does he get it so velvety...           Upavas - Here And Now (Sangoma Rec.) new EP out Oct.29th, get it here:

We are still talking about the kick and bassline only here right? Just had another listen. Still cant here it though I am no professional... To me it sounds like the bassline is rolling on every other beat other than the kick and is quite dry so there would be no sound to sidechain while the kick hits?

Unless he has a delay happening there on the bass notes creating the repeat effect then sidechaining the delay effect? I reckon I can get a very similar sound without sidechaining though using the method(s) posted in my first post.

Either way, I think we have given the original poster a few techniques and answers to try without getting too far off topic haha

You don't necessarily hear a pumping effect if the release of the sidechain compressor is very short. But at the given bass fundamental frequency together with the bpm you need to sidechain because somethings will overlap otherwise, unless you make the envelopes and midi notes so short that the fundamental frequency doesn't come through...

Btw. I recommend Trillian or hardware for bass... Alien 303 isn't very good in terms of transient and is not very good for bass at all imo... Sylenth also seems to do the trick...

I find it next to impossible to make a bassline that has proper staccato (groove guarantee) without being ducked by the kick signal...
