all the GMS bashing going around...got me thinking and I got around to doing some research....
i went to the TOP 10 page and checked out the first 35 posts as on date...and this is what I found...
13 of them have at least one GMS track on it....sometimes a rmx
5 of them have a ZORBA track on it.
Of the remaining which do not have the boys featured, some are proggy tops, while many are Artists/Label reps, who need to push their own/label tracks up into our consciousness.
So the question therefore is, if many DJs play them around the world and people like dancing to it, why do we love bashing them here?
Taste is a good thing and quite internal, while Respect is also a good thing, but more external (yeah, yeah, I know about self-respect etc. but that is not relevant here!)

First, I have nothing against GMS.
Second, I don't see your point. People complaining about GMS are refering, as far as I remember, to the musical quality of their tracks, not their "dancibility". As I always say, a Scooter tune is very catchy and highly danceable, yet it's ground zero when taken from the perspective of artistic quality and originality.
btw, I'm not saying that it's the case with GMS, just trying to find a plausible answer to your question.

Why don't we bash Simon Posford for instance? Maaan, what a jerk he is ... hasn't made a Hallucinogen album in years! Why does he make only stoopid chillout music without 4/4 beat now! That makes me veeeery angry!!! ....

Quality can somehow be measured - just like in architecture or painting, eventually it will. A lot of artists which never received recognition make amazing art, and some of the fanatics of that certain style and art critics will say 'they make stuff of the highest quality', but just about one out of a hundred average people will agree. If quality is measured by people's own tastes, than MTV is truely much higher in quality than a Dimitri DJ set.
And some people say that Skazi is the real deal and GMS are just weak. It's really a matter of taste - no one argues with the fact that GMS have invented a niche for themselves and now it's the big thing. But take some proportion - it's not their variety they are famous for. Arguing 'GMS are so good' will only invite more GMS bashing, just like saying "what's wrong with Britney's music?" will get a sharp answer from most psytrance fans.
They are considered a 'cool' act by many people in our small scene, just like Britney is considered a big thing in a much bigger scene. The analogy is perfectly relevant. The fact that there so much gossip going around about GMS and what they do is all the proof needed.
To sum it up: it's not always a matter of jealousy - it's pop superstar gossip magazines, the psytrance version.
