Hi there, I just want to know how do you create your FM leads? I am not asking about synth settings, but main post processing. Modulation, distortion, eq, compression or automation. I love fm lead but I still dont know how to make them such organic as professionals. So if you can share some tips I will be pleased . Thx and have a nice day           https://soundcloud.com/nebulosity

Something similar like in the post from nomad moon link. I know some basics about this lead but they not sound like I want. Maybe I do something wrong or it just need practise I dont know.

Sulima used them a lot in 2:52 for example

1:17 also very sharp and heavy

well, i simply set up my lead on nord lead2x, twist FM amount knob and see if it improve the timbre, if i want to automate, i just twist as a wich during record and i get great screaming results on my Goa tracks....i see no secret about it, sure you acan do better stuff like Mod Envp. FM for some punch, LFO for texture with some ring modulation....

its easy to make at least something different and good just playing with OSC and FM amout for me           https://soundcloud.com/ancientaliengoa

For the best fm you need clean waveforms
The more harmonics the grittier or more distorted the final audio will be
So start off with two sinewaves,
Carrier and modulator, (carrier is the audio, modulator is the eh ....well modulation, ie it imparts its freq onto the sound of the audio but is not heard itself)
Adjust the frequencie of either waveform to find the timbral sound you want
play around with the amount of modulation from the modulator to the carrier( known as the index)

This is the basics of fm and a good point to start
Once you get this the rest is just shapping the sound

I know its not really what you asked but I thought it pertinent to mention,
Hope it helps

on the Bombax example, it doesn't necessarily need to be FM.

try routing two LFOs to main pitch in opposite directions, if you need it more sharp, then put the arp on 1/32 or 1/64, and play it like that. remember that this will also retrig your envelopes very fast. on Albino you can go full speed on LFO, but it doesn't get to audio rate, so it's not really fm, altough it sounds fmish. you can also try small amount of pitch modulation and pretty fast triangle LFO on one oscillator. experiment with combinations of this things and you'll easily get yourself a nice repertoire of patches to use along the lines of the examples.

EDIT

the last example, maybe FM lead with two oscillators like 3 octaves appart or more, then mix with above advise to taste until happy...

One more thing I like to do is after making Fm timbres, sample the sounds and import into a granular synth, which can also give You similar gritty sounds. Also using the Glitch Vst's retrigger effect on sounds can give You nice sounds

Do not take this as an attack, but in my opinion you should learn a lot more before you try to teach somebody           http://soundcloud.com/deepskypsy

Its not professional and I cant ensure compatibility with different hosts but if I upload .dll will you test it please and send me some feedback what is wrong and so... It will be very helpful
