Dolby TrueHD is teh future:

Dolby TrueHD is the next generation lossless format by Dolby, designed specifically for use in High-Definition Disc-based Media. It provides a 100 percent lossless coding technology, up to 18 Mbit/s, over eight full-range channels of 24-bit/96 kHz audio (HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc standards currently limit their maximum number of audio channels to eight), support for High-Definition Media Interface and support for extensive metadata including dialogue normalization and dynamic range control. It has been selected as the mandatory format for HD DVD and as an optional format for Blu-ray Disc.

Or we could buy the music we love, stop ripping off artists who make this music, thus have top notch quality, and give back a little.           Fuck elitism.

What if I'm a laptop DJ? I'd rather haul a hard drive full of FLACs than a big ass crate of vinyl or CDs.           Kent

Well, if the flac files are legit, sure. But hauling around a harddrive of ripped mp3 tracks encoded in flac, from some release groups that buy stuff off psyshop.com and pre it, thats kinda lame. It's theft.

          Fuck elitism.

And I thought mp3 was a codec itself..           "The dinosaurs became extinct because they didn't have a space program."

Yeah, when are people going to catch on?

Releasing CDs and making money is a tiresome struggle.
Live shows reap the artists great rewards!
CDs promote the artist.
The artist then gets the gigs!

Maybe you don't like this model, but it's the one that works in these changing times. The ultimate end point is giving the music away for free and making daily bread playing live shows or as a dj! Playing live is the unique experience that cannot be duplicated... news flash - CD audio data is easily duplicated. This will all balance out in the future.

You can't stuff the djinn back into the lamp!!
