I won't interfere in this topic, but just wanted to say that I'm agree with Zombi about Kiwa..

I was really surprised when I first listened to his album.. i mean in the positive way
BTW his Dub Delirium on VA - Elucidations (DragOnfly) is a jewel.

Cheers           .

Boom 5MeoGeo!
Let`s continue the natural mission of searching interesting experiences in the same time than letting dance polices (who? me?..) grow the feeling with `da steady predictable`. There for sure is a need for more pro stuff imho but the challenge in keeping strrrong spirit and wickedness and surpriseness at the same time is our task. Funny said about HpW`s export wonder!

Keep it positive!
(finnish crosscountryskier just got caught [again] in a doping test from taking some hormone).
Now they are planning to stop national team`s action overall.
Hopefully that won`t affect team psyFinns`
treatment from foreign governments.

the scene in finland is not all completely whacky stuff.there are parties with different styles, and producers with a more serious approach.

in finland it hasnt really been about the level of production when making psychedelic trance, also you have to keep in mind that most of the producers in finland are way under 30, some of them are under 20 (!).so obviosly they are not aiming at perfect productions, theyre just having fun.

personally im one of the kind of people that dont really like the insane "finnish style" anymore, it had its moments for me but i care too much about the production these days.the new album of kiwa is almost ready, and there are some other, quite new, finnish acts that i find interesting for surreal audio in both creativity and the level of production.

theres music for many tastes coming out from finland this year.

Care to share? Or they haven't released anything yet.

And what about new Possible Apple?           ---------------------------------------------

Hi everybody!

I've just begun at a new job and therefore I haven't had time to jump in to this discussion earlier..
First of all I'd like to say that I'm very Swedish when it comes to music and I often compare Finnish music with Swedish music since it feels natural to me. I know a lot of Swedish and Finnish artists (making many different kinds of music from folk to percussive techno) and my opinions are based on the numerous discussions with these artists. In case somebody thinks I'm wrong I'd love to hear some good arguments, maybe I can learn something new . Do also note that my opinions are generalisations, and needless to say that there are individual exceptions on both sides. This message might be a bit off-topic, but I guess that some people out there still might be interested (?).
I always find this "Foreigners talking about Finnish music" -discussion very interesting. Every now and then there are people saying that Finnish trance is "in and hip" right now, but I personally don't believe that Finnish trance ever will be as big as for example Swedish trance (and Swedish music in general) unless there is a big change in the attitude of Finnish musicians and producers.
Finnish trance (and almost every other kind of Finnish music too) is a good reflection of a typical Finnish mentality, ie. the will to be different and not even remotely be like somebody else. Maybe the biggest single fear for us Finns is that somebody thinks that we are stereotypic or cliche, this so called paranoic "Finnish anxiety" is very common among Finnish musicians.
My personal opinion is that Finnish musicians are afraid to suit their music to a broader audience, since its generally considered being a "cheap trick" to make music for people. One has to keep in mind that every person is unique, there are no two persons that are alike - music made by an artist always reflects the artist's mind so there's really no need to worry about sounding stereotypic in case you are true to yourself and not trying to force yourself in to some unnatural pattern (like trying to make something _very_ unique and _totally_ different from anything else _ever_ done before just for the sake of being different).
I have personally liked the new album by Highpersonic Whomen a lot since it's so non-Finnish, totally freed from the Finnish anxiety and apparently made solely for the purpose of pleasing people and it's no wonder that it has gotten a lot of good reviews and acclaim on a global scale, I appreciate this kind of honesty (..and then there's that goa-melody in "Piece of cake" (track #2) that makes me go wild ) Although the production quality isn't quite the Ticon/Vibrasphere-level(tm) it definitely doesn't sound C-64:ish or crappy. I'm really looking forward to Highpersonic Whomen's future releases!
Some people have complained about the production quality of Finnish trance, I don't think that this has anything to do with "natural talents" or absense of "technical skills" - I think that this has to do with the fact that Finnish artists give up too easily. Swedish artists sound exactly as bad (if not worse) in the beginning of their musical career as Finnish artists, but they don't get depressed by negative feedback but instead focus on the future and developing their production skills ("You talk the talk, but do you walk the walk?"). Being able to focus on future and being ready to work your ass off are in my opinion two of the cornerstones of making successful music. Sweden has been one of the keyplayers of the global music business for 20 years now, and I think that even all the Swedish trance artists more or less have become inspired by the successful pop-artists and producers (Abba, Roxette, Denniz Pop, Max Martin, Per Lidén, Cardigans, etc. etc.) coming from the Blue-Yellow People's Home .
In order for Finnish trance to make a break-through outside Finland there needs to be a lot more international/non-anxietic thinking combined with constant hard work on developing technical skills and marketing (= identifying different kinds of demands on the market, developing appropriate products that fulfill these demands and informing the market about these products). As we all know, Swedes are masters of marketing and product development, this professionality and determination is something that gets a lot of adoration from me and it's definitely something that can be felt in Swedish music, giving me a big smile on my face and making me want to say "Jajamensan!" while listening to some Yet-Another-Well-Produced-Swedish-Trance-Album driving a Volvo home from Ikea to eat "Janssons frestelse"

Cheers,

Thank you and thanks to Timmy also for the feedback .
Regarding the Norwegian trance invasion, your prayers have already been answered - ever heard of RA (aka Dimension5 / Electron Wave) ?
