hey all!
ive just been digging back into my stack of FAX releases from the past few years, now im wondering if any of you have heard this magic?
Pete Namlook is a master!!! some of these cds are very incredible and i hope you get a chance to hear these sounds someday...lots of them are limited release, so no two collections are the same.
if you are into this label, tell which albums you like the best. sometimes its on the IDM side, or the cheezy side of things, but mostly there are various wonderful chillout styles here.

to learn more check www.2350.org
some of my favorites:
2350 broadway & 2350 Broadway 3
From Within (namlook + plastikman )
Virtual Vices 2
Possible Gardens
Outland
Atom
Dreamfish + Dreamfish 2 (namlook and Mixmaster morris)
Tetsu Inoue - Organic Cloud **** one of the best ambient cds ever.
Retro Rocket (namlook + moveD)
i have about 20 more and i cant type them all right now!

Great label, I prefer Warp Records though (Autechre and Chris Clark lately, but of course Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, mu-Ziq, Plaid, Nightmares on wax and all of the rest of those guys).           http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222

the limited amount stuff on fax i've heard i've really enjoyed. i speak specifically of the second fires of ork album which i recently acquired from a mate. sadly this music is (a) too hard to find or (b) sometimes average. from what i've been told you really have to sift to find the (many) gems on fax.

I guess compare two different labels such as Fax vs Warp is like asking a painter or art lover to compare Picasso to Matisse: both good, both different, very different styles.           ::Memento:Audere:Semper::

LFO - Sheath is a nice new-ish album on Warp, as well.

Pete Namlook is not the only one ambient master in this world. yeah, his works are great, sometimes even amazing! he produced an awesome amount of material to dig
also a lot of collaborations with other artists.
But! also don't forget about other old masters of classic ambient: Robert Rich, Brian Eno, Steve Roach... and they also have dozens of collaborations and experiments. it's just classic! just go on digging...           last.fm/user/jyxx/

Namlook & Fax - not the worst, not the best. I like some of his collaboration albums ('The Fires Of Ork II' with Biosphere and 'S.H.A.D.O. I&II' with H.I.A. are the best so far) but his solo releases sometimes are a little bit dissapointing, especially his rhythmic explorations - not my cup of tea.
But not the worst - some are very good.

Quite interesting sounds from Pete Namlook...Untill now i have listened Fires of Ork 1+2 , Air 1 ( too experimental and trippy music) and Planetarium (more cheezy then the other but also interesting_)

Mr. Kuhlmann is the first ambient producer I fell in love with, and since then I have listened through almost every song he has released. Many of them have become outdated for me, but some still contain very magical atmosphere. I haven't heard his very recent stuff "Release - the music for urban meditation", but I'm going to buy it soon. For me the ultimate favourites today are:

* Virtual Vices IV (electronic nu-jazz vibes)
* The Dark Side of the Moog IX (ethereal sunday-morning chillout stuff)
* New Organic Life III (very meditative)
* Sultan: Osman (mystical turkish music)
* Move D/Namlook: Wired & Audiolounge (so easy-going and addictive)
* 2350 Broadway 3 (blissfull chilling without beats)
* S.H.A.D.O. 2 (Crunchy, mechanical IDM beauty)
* Silence I & II (thanx for the many wonderful moments I've had with them over the years)

The releases by Jonah Sharp on the FAX label are some of his best, especially his collaberations. If you like Spacetime Continuums "Sea biscuit" I suggest seeking out anything on the FAX label with the name Jonah Sharp attached to it.
