sure it is.
A cover version - you use your own excllusive sounds and then it is almost like a track you did with the idea of another track.
take for example the TV-Sale channel, they are selling pack of CD's with all the current artists and old artists songs. but if u listen carfully you will hear that it is not actualy the same singer and it is not actualy the same exact music. other ppl made a cover version.
that what you can hear in the advertising on the TV, you will not hear the original song , most of the time the advertising company making a cover version so in this way they will not pay extra money to the artist.

(just because I think the artists deserved it)
who cares about legality , do what you think is the right to do as long as you don't hurt others.

Well, In a cover version the Royalties of the song (money that is payed for redio play and performance and stuff) goes to the writer of the song and not to the person who plays it, so you can do covers legally without any permission cause the writter makes money form it too. but a remix that uses the original sounds has a different legal status. since it's like you stole the bricks of the building as well as the blueprints. (hence in music legality blueprint stealing is OK cause the designer gets paid but brick stealing is wrong).
Copyright law is complicated, it's all about who makes money out of the tunes.

dudu atrash, a sound' wiz'! good guys, now makin' music in northern israel, workin' on their upcomin' debut album, will b out later this year (i think/hope!). also many releases on other labels such as trancelusent, dance n' dust, neurbiotics and more.....

must say that the track on VA - Mental Case is simply incredible. what a powerful dusty kick they got there.... and elecricity all over with an old nostalgic feeling and a 6am mood
way to go!!!
