At 16:10 pm i was sitting in front of my computer and thinking that my overhread fan is not doing the job... so hot... so i went to turn on the a/c. As soon as i hit the on button............... doooooooooooosh power cut off. the computer shut off the stereo, the mixer, the equipment, the fan, oh why did it have to shut off the fan? i figured i overloaded the electricity, althought i've always put everything on with no problems... and went to check the main. when i saw there was no prob, i went outside and noticed that my whole floor is out. so what can i do right? i went to sleep for a few hours, and woke up in a science fiction movie, nothing less. my cell phone wasnt working, i called my mom to tell her it looks like the whole neighberhood has been cut from electricty, and she corrected me to say that from north New Jersey to Ottowa there is no juice... and nobody knows why and when it will be restored. i figured, might as well not be alone, so i walked outside to my friends' place. what i saw was unbeleivable... masses and masses of people hording out of the city on major roadways, somewhat like yom kippur in israel.. it was beautiful, an entire metropolis free of noise, no cars, nothing, i guess now i know that all this electricity makes a sound... cause it was missing yesterday, no EM fields to disrupt anyone. by the time i crossed the willamsburg bridge it was getting dark, and then NY looked like a combination of sci-fi movies... some neighberhoods looked like a very bad version of the future, with weirdos walking around, cant really see anyone, no lights in the houses at all, skyscrapers vanished...very eery feel to it... people walking around aimlessly like in Asimov's book "Nightfall", places with smoke looked like "Blade Runner" with the only lights seen to our eyes being the sirens and lights of the police and emergency vehicles. people came out to the streets with their glow things that they take to clubs. everyone looked like aliens, it was quite an amazing experience just to walk around... luckily, oh luckily my car was full of gas, and equipped with a kickass stereo that came in handy! the strangest thing is that the cd that was inside playing from before was "Psysex- Hardcore" Blastoff and the track that came on was "The Final Mission" with the sample in it "The computers are fried!" we opened the car completely and started playing it loud in the street... imagine this, streets full of people, no electronic noise of any sort except for the Isralien sounds of PSYSEX! we were dancing around and people started to join us, israelis knew right away what we played and loved it, americans and others came and started to move themselves to the beats... some were jokin around and telling us that since this whole thing is a science fiction movie, this is the only music that makes sense to them... it came so natural, so scary at times, Psysex's music is creepy at times, especially on this occasion. some people in the distance were playing Beatles songs on an acoustic guitar and it meshed with our trance to create what sounded only sounded like a memory from a Chemical Brother's concert where i heard a remix to "I am the Walrus" super super psychadelic version... next we played some Cosma, the old album... wow, what an hour of stomps... Panick - Rocket Pocket next... it turned out to become a small party with about 20-25 people on top of my friends that i didnt know, all dancing in the street, all talking about untiy and love and sticking together, no bad energies, no arguments, people emptiying out their refregerators, their freezers, and giving out to everyone, ice creams and cheese, and stuff like that, since there was nothing to do with it anyway... i wish everynight could be like this, elecricty free, but full of human electro energy, what a night, i wont forget this for a long time... the moon was 3/4 full and was giving some light from 11pm on... the police never came to stop the music, even one cop stopped said hello and left and told us the music is interesting. If it wasnt for trance this wouldnt happen, i walked around other places later and before, with people playing rap in the street and to me it just sounded and looked too much like a scene from a bad bad bad future with gangs and outlaws calling the shots... our event was truly magical! i'm still at a loss for words for what happend here last, but im very thankfull for electricty i suppose since i wouldnt be able to express this and share with you all what an epic journey we all embark on yesterday.

I was amazed to read to your story man. That was the sort of party i´ve been looking for. And now I know it takes a blackout to re establish some order, at least in ppl´s hearts. Really nice !

As far as I know no one knows why the blackout happened...
Very nice history, good to see the "spirit" carries on, we just have to cut off the electricity (or our normal lives) to see it bloom...
IMO Nightfall, from Asimov, is one of his worst books... I prefer much more all the Foundations book, all the Robot books (including Caves of Steel series) and even Nêmesis (which I don't like very much).
Anyway, very nice to see good things happening out of apparently bad things (no computers ).
Thanks to share your history, wish I was there for the free Ice Cream (and for the music and friends)...
Respect!

That's fantastic. I love it when things like that happen. Spontaniety is a great thing.

thnx for the comments guys it was really fun, what was even funnier was all the jokes we played on the situation:

"... we are now at the 15th day of the "Darkness", where President Bush had to delclare martial law, due to the enournous amount of lootin going on... back to you at the studios. "

"Witnesses claim to have the "ships" descend from the sky at around midnight, using some kind of EM energy now uniterrupted by human electricity"

".... At the scene.... of what can only be described... the deadliest virus/worm attack in e-crime history.... mass robberies and pillage..... oh oh... i'm getting cut off..... hey! watch that..... og........cut."

we had more but i cant remember them... maybe later

I"m glad you didnt surrender. Very nice story. As odd as it may sound, for the first time I wish I was there to turn on the hyperactive. Then everyone would be dancing like robots and it would be the American Revolution. hahahaha My first allusion was to "Night" by Elie Wiesel, but then I gave up... This is a much happier and positive story. Consider that fact that you may have influenced loads of people..... who knows... I'm still smiling also! see ya           cna't find it

That's pretty amazing man. I was wondering where the hell you went yesterday. What time did you get your power back?

About half an hour after you got disconnected I finally turned on my TV and I watched the ants walking around lost for most of the evening. It was a very strange scene.
Glad you made the most of it buddy...           Both teams played hard
