Not one person I know plenty of guys who hate their crashing macs Looks like you are a lucky one. However anyone needs to know what he like to get by his own. I love my macbook pro for surfing and watching dvd in the bed

i would put most of this down to lack of knowledge about running a solid rig, not hardware or software failure. a Mac needs to be maintained correctly just like a pc . my 2c           www.harmlessprankster.bandcamp.com

maybe in some cases... but its unfair to say macs never crash, since its not true.

Beside the Software which needs to maintain which should be clear to anyone, the MAC hardware cannot be maintained by yourself that easy. Just make sure that You buy extra warranty so that you are covered as PC users, than you are safe. Would be sad If somethings dies after one year and than you have to get a new "value" computer.

You have big luck with you G5, they died quite often when they were new.(google "g5 psu", or "g5 chirp")

Those things has nothing to do with knowledge, maybe lack of knowledge that Macs are not better hardware

Macs are simply not better or worse than a PC, it depends highly on which hardware you choose (or get in case u buy a mac)and which software you install.

If something is more expensive it is not necessarily better these days.

I just answered to the thread starter with my honest experience as he asked for.

yes, cause you know there is only 1 pc manufacturer.

Thanks everyone for your replies, you've been most helpful. I didn't intend to make this another Mac vs. PC thread as there are already enough of those, so I'd appreciate if the discussion here could focus only on the emigration to Mac and user experiences.

I watched the most recent keynote a couple of days ago and Lion seems quite promising, I think. Is there anyone here who's gone through what Lion brings to the table and if there's anything in particular that could benefit us from a producer's perspective?

Furthermore, I'd like to ask if there are any brands that particularly tend to cause problems running on Mac in terms of soundcards, MIDI equipment etc? Are there any big no-no's?            Aural transmissions from the deep forests of Sweden
