two new compilations from doof in the same week really got me worried. is my brain that resistant? i found out it is!!

VA- Electric Shock Treatment [second session] / Doof records

TRACK LIST:

1. Sylla bassVs. U-Recken - Two Bastards

2. Zebra-N- Man On A Mission

3. Azax Syndrome Vs. Winter Demon- Black Zodiac

4. Nexus- Observe The Darkness

5. Double R.E.L- My Beloved One

6. Entropy- Pedro

7. Zirkin- After Effect

8. Dissociactive- Lakrimoza

9. Cactus- Green Liquid

before we start have a listen to the loops so that you get an idea about what i'm talking about: http://www.doofrecords.net/web/web_artist.html

the second session is the darker and more intense one. LOVELY!
the cover design is scarry with lots of details you only catch with a closer look but the real treat is the dj slip that goes straight to my case. a must.
lets get down to the music:
the compilation starts with a sonic blaster, one of the fucking best tunes i've heard in a while. the acid TB drive that hits in is a brain washer and the sound work is perfect. nothing can go wrong now - GET THIS TRACK!!
second kicks in big time and quickly escalates to an explosion that is ridiculously broken by a hilarious sample. this one is definitely going to be a dancefloor smasher with the right combination of acid and cheese.
i was looking forward for number three, two dark lords working together cant go wrong and indeed it don't. the demons contribution is here and is refreshing, a little twist to the azax sound. another night goodie.
number 4 i heard on the dancefloor played by max-etnica. this track is a total disaster, even better than the one on the first session. this is morning for me, intense but smiley. nobody can stand still when this is on. nexus has sure made a style for himself (when is his album released????)
next is another beautiful track from double REL and again i like this one even better than the one on the first session. the guitar and violin are super. really sound like these guys have their own twisted style.
now comes a real night track, made me shiver. one of those "each man to himself, tripin' like hell" tracks. good base line and percussions.this one i can enjoy lying on the couch floating around, good good good.
zirkin is finally back with a fantastic super acid piece of sound. the police cars made me look backwards and the helicopters got me paranoid. a wicked hard baseline and lots of zirkin surprises along the way.
number 8 is special, russian style track with a melodic twist that made me grin many times as i was dancing to myself another smiley track but a night smiley with bright red eyes and horns...
the last track is from another new artist- cactus. this a real treat. a psychedelic journey of the kind rarely made these days, full full of surprises and little tricks i cant wait to hear this shrooming. a perfect ending for this hellride.

again i think its obvious i think this compilation is one of the best things i got lately.
big big respect for doof records for picking those great sounds and artists and for feeding my brain with these tunes that are together dark and funny. love you.

I wonder when this topic will be visited by all the people who moan & bitch about the "dark side" (que low spooky voice).. Anyway, this is a good compilation if you want some more dark tracks heading your way. There are a couple of real brainburners on this, yet I think the first session was a bit more to my liking. The last song on this session is way too chaotic for me, and number 8 has this irritating little children's tune in it... But the rest is just cool. Especially number 1 is one of my faves here. I hope Doof keeps it up this way...

Thank you Rastamanito

For your information, Entropy (which are 2 of the "Kopsses" dudes) are about to release an album next month!

Yes, we are coming to Europe. We're playing at the Indepen-Dance festival and at a party in Switzerland. Maybe we will see you there?

Have to revise here... I've listened to it some more and this is truly a kicking cd!! I like number 8 as well now, and number 9 isn't at all bad... ! Although I still think the First Session is a little bit better, you should still buy them both if you're planning on buying one of these albums!!           "Subconscious unravels at the point of death, and all time it has known erupts into a moment. Two Bastard is a long track letting place for an interesting building, very changing, in a dark psyprogressive way (in both sense).

On a mission is based on the use of some sonic bumps around 3’00 just after the speech break from a dude recognizable by his way of speaking already heard in many other psy stuffs (btw i don’t know to which personn belongs this voice or where does it come from).

The melody rings like a phone one in Black Zodiac, but seems here nobody wants to take the call, later evolves into something cyber-mutant ringing like if b being genetically modified.

Once again i skip a Nexus ‘s track, really too boring for me…

This time Double R.E.L rocks, funny & quite surprising elements parts appearing like some notes coming out from an acoustic guitar or strongly ondulated-trembling violin lead confering a soft clasical music & romantic touch, finishing on a reverse way playing samples voices.

Pedro from Entropy is a typical pachydermic psytek-trance stuff, a bit in a same way as
Tetraktys – Mechanical Unit.

Zirkin delivers something more psyprog to me in his first half at last, more bouncy, jerky & slightly more enlightened comparing to the other classical dark psytrance stuffs on this second session.

Come back here with typical dark psychedelic stuff with Lacrimoza, well produced & effective, incisive stuff , the melody around 3’00 makes me laugh coz obviously looks like a lot to Dorothée – Ouh la menteuse ,elle est amoureuse (an odd-old hit from french singtress dedicated for young child).

Green Liquid is quite short with a weird atmosphere, it lacks maybe a bit of coherence inside to be a real blast.

Highlights :5,7
Other favorites by order :8,2,1,6,3

This second chapter is a bit less attractive than first one for me but once again still workin especially for Apoxina lovers & Digital Talk or Tetraktys lovers.

gromit is the king, i would kill for a chapter of "wallace and gromit raving on acid"

anyway the zebra-n track is the closest it gets to that.
