Better vinyls come back and no more CD's

yeah, I wonder how many home listeners would want to buy a turntable and make room for a 5 times larger medium with less space for tracks, shorter life span and higher price...that's just plain funny

regardless of what you all think of the mp3 format it is here to stay...and the music industry must keep pace with technology...which is why apple has now made millions with their iTunes thing

my prediction is that the start of this whole mp3 sale thing is going to be a bit problematic but after a couple of years I'm sure we will all look to cds as we now look at vinyls...of course keep in mind that I'm looking at this from a home listener perspective...but I do agree with you that the current quality of the mp3 format just won't cut it for most people           DJ Dovla | Interchill Records, Flow Records

imo, i doubt there will be a market for it. First, the scene is small and this includes listeners. Secondly, downloadable format is always floating in the net which will make me think twice when others can get it for free. Like what Dovla said, mp3 is here to stay.

I would always get cd over mp3 but sometimes to get ppl to buy them, there has to be something which is non-downloadable included in the cd to attract ppl to buy em.

I also want to mention that I prefer to have my music collection on say...one big medium...for instance if I only had original cds and wanted to play some random tracks from my collection I would have to take one cd out and put another one for every track...which is why I believe that a music format such as mp3 simply can and will take over the home listener part of this scene, and any other scene.. It's much easier to have..say, one dvd with 50 albums and compils in mp3, and when you put that in your drive you can have your entire collection of best of albums and compilations and just play any track you want and make your own playlists...of course the thing that still makes original cds better is the sound quality and the cover artwork...and the general feeling of holding someones album in your hand...these are the things that labels and artists need to work on and bring it to the next level and keep the pace with new technologies

in any case I think that it will take some time before we see the results of legal mp3 shops but I am sure it's the right way to go           DJ Dovla | Interchill Records, Flow Records

what would the payment method be like?

I would use it definitaly!

it would be around 65 cents, or just over a dollar, for the best quality.

if the mp3s are legit, reasonably priced, high quality (almost as good as CD quality) - I'll be there.
make sure you bring a wide variety and not just the top of the pops

I'm all about the smaller lesser knowns, don't worry! In seattle, the smaller goa scene likes their psytrance hard and dark and very tweaky...not really typical "crowd pleasers".

Dunno...maybe its just me...

I totally agree. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my goa vinyl collection, and would love it if the trend were going towards releasing more of it that way. But I guess for most, it just doesn't make sense when you're trying to haul a bunch of sun-melting records to the dessert, beach, or forest.

The website that would offer such service, be it only psy or other electronic ganres, music let the people know that buying and then trading is only working against them.
I beleive people will understand the ethics of that only if its repeated over and over again.
Anything under $1 for a psy track is more than reasonable!

i have an idea....

since a lot of people have high speed connections, maybe you can offer downloads of wav files at about $1 per track.....

1) that way people who download it cannot spread it across net (they spent so much time downloading it)

2) quality is good

3) Only serious people who want the music will download it

4) of course, the downside is people who have high speed and are always connected will still probably share it online or give it to their friends (hey you can't have everything, right?)
