just came back with news..

I think a got it...

I put the bassline in SENDS ONLY

Created 2 IN audio channels..
splitted the bass, one highpass, another lowpass

Now I have much more control, rised the lowpass channel....

Now the bassline is running smoother... without compress yet.. I guess I will compress only the lowpass channel..

friend,

if you use ableton live you even DONT NEED sends. Thats why I love ableton too. In ableton there is this: Audio Effects Rack! a Genious additiion. why? becasue using it over the bass channel permits you split the audio signal directly on your bass channel without even using sends! (in cubase and logic you will have to use sends if you want to split an audio signal). how you do it?
when you are happy with your bass put this audio effects rack on it. than put the auto-filter Within the effect rack. inside it! open fully the audio effect rack if it is closed and you will notice that inside a "Chain" was created. this chain is the first split. than just ctrl drag this chain down (again INTO the audio effects rack) and it will just duplicate! ehehe of course the volume of your bass will duplicate too in this moment. so just lowpass one of the autofilter and highpass the other. put a compressor (audio native compressor) exactly next to the highpassed autofilter and sidechain it directly with kik. make it fast attack, fast release, slide down the threshold and put the ratio to maximum. Voila! so what we have obtained. on the same bass channel we have splited its sound in 2 using the audio effects rack.

I love ableton for this function. No other daw permits me (as i know) split an audio signal directly on the same channel without even using sends, returns, groups or whatever you want to call the auxiliary channels.

Anyway I am sure in youtube there is some tutorial of how to use the audio effects rack for splitting an audio signal.

but most most important is to understand the logic and not just follow some tutorials. This technique of splitting the audio signal is just for making better sudechaining with the kik. it will be helpful JUST if you previously tweaked good your bass. follow all the advices here by domestic. follow the good tutorials of tweaking and making a good bass and additionally use this tips here so that the kik and the bass fits perfectly.           Sound:

well almost

first of all dont use no envelopes or whatever on the autofilter. leave it as it is by default. look carefully the image, exactly on the right side of your autofilter (the one that is shown in the picture) put the live compressor and sidechain it with the kik. It is much better than sidechaining it directly with the autofilter, though maybe it works... i dont know. but put the compressor exactly after the autofilter Into the 1st chain as you will have much more control. the compressor in this case will play the role of dynamic EQ as it will lower with -12db or even more those bass freqs exactly when the kik punches. (dont use gain make up) also be very carefull with the volumes of the chains. but yes, ittle by little it will pop up. I think I will make a tutorial later with pictures and an example file so that there is no doubts. But yes, this is the way

well i saw the pic. anyway just to clear it up once more. splitting the bass into 2 signals Wont give you, Bottom, Killargh or the mega bombastic bass from the outaworld...

splitting the bass is just if you want to use notes that overlap the kik without distorting it... this is just an improved technique of a standard sidechain...

if your bass lacks something first fix it and than split it

from what i saw in your picture you will have to tweak a lot more the compressor that have the sidechain... ratio, attack, release, etc...           Sound:

Hey Dark Force, are you talking about what I said?
Don't see this too dark ;-)

I think I said something good.

What I said wasn't ment against this thread or the tipps from pros, but just to say that one may already have the knowledge necessairy, but doesn't see it.

I actually was inspired by domestics post, about saying that you will always ask your self "how do they do it" I just wanted to say it in other words.

I think it's great that ido is giving tipps here.
I believe some pros don't give tipps because they fear "competition" since they only define through production quality.

You can maybe copy someones signature, but not his whole handwriting and writing style. And therefore:

DarkForce, check out my website, lots of tipps and tricks, even a whole songs cubase SX file there to download.

I agree with you but some advice would be just great
