Does writing reviews improves the sales of a release ?

Cool topic,
I write reviews based on my personal tastes and i try to be as neutral as possible in my reviewing, keeping my integrity and my honesty above all. Out of respect i try to be as respectful to the artists and labels as possible, meaning i will avoid bashing something that i dislike simply because its all a matter of personal taste. although there might be some conflict of interest involved in most reviews, i still think people can detect a more "promo" review from one based on actual tastes and quality.
In a market as small as our's, one can only hope for something to increase sales !! with any luck, a good review just might do the trick..
