"Ptzatzot ba derech le sof haolam" is an awful documentary. Badly produced.
I'm sure better documentaries can be done           Majority is never right!

there is a great movie that came out a few years ago called 'karahana', released by u.f.o.s./phonokol (somehow a few copies made it to the states ). it is a documentary of the the 'drugless' festival @ the ganey huga park from '97, and runs about an hour. lots of great music and video footage, and some interviews interviews with x-dream, tsuyoshi, manmademan, dado, and mfg to name a few.

Yes but I think now the situation is different.
Because of the crisis Israel is going through, it would be nice to show how people, with all of the shit going on here, still can forget about everything, and escape for a few hours.
This situation wasn't that present a few years ago, you have to agree with me Sage.           Majority is never right!

certainly the situation now must be much different than it was a few years ago (an observation made from the other side of the planet...) , but the film ('karahana') had much more to do with music than politics. there was a small mention that there have been problems with police shutting down parties but outside of that, the emphasis was on trance music and the 'trance-culture' that it has created. trance music is an escape for people all over the world as well as israel, but it certainly seems (@ least, from a distance) as though the israeli trance scene has refined this attitude/lifestyle and created something new that has since moved outside it's borders and made its presence felt around the world, partly because of this internal pressure. i would think that alot of the tension that exists right now would cause people/artists to push the envelope a little bit more, to explore a little further for a release that is like a therapy for shell-shocked nerves.

of course, i live in the u.s. so all of the information i get comes from a source other than my day-to-day reality, but everything that i have seen/heard/read about the trance scene in israel has lead me to this impression. i'm sure that there are a few of you thinking, 'what the hell is he talking about?'... i do not mean to sound ignorant, just trying to offer a global perspective...

Hey, man I think its a great idea to make such documentary... I also think, as raver girl said, that its very important that you show all sides of a festival: before, during and after the party... that way, people can see how a party is organized, the people getting there... then you can show how it is when everything is really happening, the camping area, everyone just sitting down together to chat and have some fun, the dance floor... and when its ready, send me a copy... hehehe           "Going to the grave without ever having a psychedelic experience is like going to the grave without ever having sex" (T.
