actually, i think dj's and bedroom dj's are the main buyers of music these days (especially that second group is big imo)

A true trip is something continously changing without any stops...i definately love albums that dont't stop and are finely mixed..it definately is the most professional and serious production of all.

So you think artists have djs in their mind when they make cds?           "The dinosaurs became extinct because they didn't have a space program."

Each Of CCR's releases have been set out like this ie'' mixed in the intros and otros through ambience, i feel indeed it doese creat a more seamless feeling, and overall more encompassing vibe and better listing experence when listining to a CD or album as a whole

I look forward to hearing The Jester Records Release

yes, i do think some labels release tunes with Djs in mind....

I like it when their a mix between a mix and seperated. I dont want my album to be a total mix (beatmix ect). But to let the ending fade into the beginning of the next track is a good idè, and it's a shame that so few compilations do that. Even chill comps usaly just havre a track by track listing. I want it to blend alittle. And as a DJ, it wount ruin anything as the DJ begins his mixing way before.

I am proud to annonce that your search is over.. Jester Records's first compilation release will be semi-mixed, much like you just explained. the ending of the tracks will fade into eachother, so when you play it in your car or home stereo, it will not stop to change tracks..

I hope more label's do this.. i hate it when i'm fucked off my mind listening to my CD's and then i get this "stop", while the new song loads.. kills the whole buzz..

Glad we agree. I cant see the reason of why not more compilations is "mixed" in this manner. Just look at "Quality Relexation" (I've had this discussion with PKS as well) and "A Magical Journey". These two chill compilations would be perfect for soft mixing. Just so the album will have "journey". Unfortunaly, they just stop the track, pause 1-2 sec. Over to the next. Imo, thats wrong. Main reason/defence I hear from the compilers. "It's not good for the DJ." - I say bullox. If the DJ can't work around that, then they realy cant DJ. When I was a lousy crappy hobby amature DJ in Greece 3 years ago. I used alot of trance/dance compilations where they realy mixed the tracks. I still manageded to mix one track from one comp. into another track from another comp. With no problem. And I promise you. I was no pro DJ. Not at all.

greetings!
all our comps at Peak are semi mixed, meaning that there is no empty space in between tracks. we do this so that it can be used by djs but also because we enjoy being able to listen to a cd at home which has a certain flow to it.
to take this even further we always have a chill intro and outro. this has been our formula with dance-floor compilations as well as chill ones.

I think every track tells it's own story! and also I prefer individual tracks without mixing. Some ambience between tracks can make it a better listening experice though.

I like mixed ones more than individual.

I prefer the single tracks, firstly cause each track has been painstakingly made and should be appreciated to the fullest from start to finish. And secondly I agree with the rest that having the tracks seperate are easier for DJs to play the tracks and gives them selection. I'd say mixed!

That's what this electronic music is all about. Song's are great, but nothing beats a great mix.

why they dont take out a 2 cd album.
one it's the normal album tracks.
the other one should be the same tracks just like a Mix set of the artist.

I prefer single tracks from mixed or even semi mixed tracks.

In my DJ sets I might want to do a fade mix, or I want to start off a set with an intro from a track - Then I need the intro to be untouched.

For most fade mixes semi mixed tracks are "ok" - but, when wanting to start off a set from point ZERO, you need a clean intro.

I think, if you just remove the 2 seconds of silence between tracks its ok - It will go from outro to intro immediately, with no silence at all. And both tracks are still untouched.

For recreational listening I like DJ sets mostly - But, I still want to know what the tracks sounds like unmixed.

Mmm, I dont think we need rules here - Its up to the artists and labels to present the music on the CDs- and actually, even though I have my own preferences, its nice to see things done in different ways (like Jaïs fiction album + many more)

Best Wishes

If CDs mixed without being beatmixed, it can give a good experience and story of the music. I prefer it that way, if the tracks are very different from each other. If the tracks are alike all way through, not mixed at all since the mood will go on unchanged and it's more like a compilation than a story.           LABEL-DJ @ 3D VISION RECORDINGS | www.myspace.com/djraider | www.myspace.com/3dvisionrecordings
