Nearly anything can be used for therapy: Music, nature sounds, images, scents, etc.

This happens because our mood can be influenced by all these stimulus.

But as a skeptic I must define what therapy is:

Therapy

1. Treatment of illness or disability.
2. Psychotherapy.
3. Healing power or quality: "the therapy of fresh air and sun."

As a Biochemist and Pharmacist I learnt that therapy is a way to try to enhance the life quality of the patient.

Even the dictionary says that “fresh air and sun” can be a therapy, so it all depends on the condition of the subject.

Music can be therapy, for sure. Making music has been the refuge of tortured souls throughout history - the latest examples being the 527... but as in that example, it's no replacement for psychological stability.           http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222

It is so theroputic, we can grow with psy I think, it carries us along brings us to door ways and if we find the movement to get through them then we can get up into the next plane. The emotions that we can released at one party are amazing. I'd call it therapy.

Therapy with music, hmm, sure, why not. But not for everybody though. If you are "SANE" then you can listen to some chill out/ambient to relax. But if you are a legit wacko on a paper then every sound might disrupt you. In that case music would work only if it is played quietly in the background while patient/s are resting in front of row of trees or a grassfiend.

oh yeah that bass vibrating through your body has got to give some cancer a shake up and then when we stomp the earth and send it out through our hands to the sky , that would be more than therapy, I'd call that a cure.
