I prefer the frequency response of 16-bit / 44.1khz to vinyl. ;-)

no one in the psy scene using the lemur?
that thing is the only future of controlers (multitouch screen)
But for the more standar dj, I still think carryng a case with 20 cd's is the way to go, every gig and club will provide cdjs

One of my friends who is making a little bit of progressive psytrance (but who is mostly into techno/tech house and progressive house) has a Lemur and uses it for his and his partners livegigs.

There's no way I would play live with a Lemur. Ever.
Having your laptop stolen is nothing compared to losing $3000 of pure joy.
Still wish I had one though. You believe in the users?
Yeah, sure. If I don't have a user, then who wrote me?

I think it's funny how psytrancers always talk about "back when people used vinyl". almost every other genre of dance music still has a sizeable number of vinyl DJs.
just another example of how I feel like I've been transported to mars when I talk to you guys

I wish they made a piece of hardware that was like the CDJ-1000 except that used memory cards instead of CDs
I don't like using a laptop because software tends to be unreliable and getting a laptop stolen is $$$
On the other hand, CDJ-1000s are very expensive and I suspect that a big chunk of that cost is the CD drive itself.

I took a look to the most Dj softwares, but i dont like them all.
Sometimes the rendering quality was not very clean for me, sometimes there are tooo many features i never use.
i use Fantom (my own software) for mixing & live. to me its both the same. It also can load Cubase4 Projekts for live remaining tracks.

That being said, it's one expensive piece of equipment!
But seems like a hell of a good time...

CDJs can play only upto 16 bit wav format whereas Ableton live can play 32 bit sound quality as well...so when sound quality is considered Ableton with low latency sound card is a killer ...but to play above 16 bit quality, it has to be ones own production in 24 bit or 32 bit wav format....
