Hi everybody,

I had some dj-slips with bpms lying around on my hard-drive and decided to put them on my small site, so you can copy-paste and print them. It's not much, but it come in handy for some of you and it's a chance for me to plug my own music Watch out however, there are some minor mistakes in the bpms...

Happy newyear,
Daan

who needs BPM's of tracks? if you can't mix by ear you aren't a DJ.           Kinetic Honda GmbH, Worldwide Supliers of Quality noise.

I HATE to mix by ear. and I make those BPM marks for myself as also the scales of the tracks I play... And you bring me to play in your parties... means I am a DJ

have to agree with the majority here, any dj should be able to beat-match "blindly", w/out automatic bmp display. it's just about the hearing.

but then again, it's nice to know at what bmp one his starting his set. and this is where the bmp on the slips come in. by the way, if you mix with cdj, you can calculate the difference in bmp to synchronize the beats... another reason why bpm information on slips could come in handy.

Sorry ladies & gentleman I never went with the majority. It is fairly easier to mix when u know the speed of the track. What makes a good DJ is not the fact if he mixes with bpm table or without it - but if @ the end of the show the crowd wants for more.

Well i'm pretty new @ this as u know guys, but here are my thoughts on the subject...

it's not just about knowing the bpm for caclulation, but as less such "helpers" u use imo, u tune your senses more thus getting better in general...           http://www.aero-groove.com

Well actually, instead of fitting bpm's live on stage I have extra time to change the track to another if I need, or to change the second track to third one, if I find they dont fit my needs. Why is impossible to tune your senses with the BPM written in your case? heheh

Moreover, in same fashion one can claim that everyone that uses CD's is not a DJ, and actual DJ'ing is vynil DJ'ing. Its a real showcase of DJ skills ( Borrrrris where are u? )

Another example is of the 80's or the late 70's when the computers, and hand computers just kicked in.. In mathematics classes, there were those that wouldnt touch that 'thing' and do all in their head ( I was one of these )... Until I understood that alongside with the damage it makes, it speeds my decision making and helps me in more than one field to get better as a whole.

Those were my 2 cents           A man with a "master plan" is often a woman

i agree with yuli... ( its nice to know to calculate bpm by ear. but only for my personal satisfaction of knowledge) I dont understand why someone becomes (better) dj by knowing this.. The dj is not to calculate, the dj is for playing and amusing the ppl...           +-+talking with ali3ns around the universe+-+

I love to play with my original cd´s wich have the bpm sleeve! hehehehehe (I´m too lazy for checking and writing the bpm on recorded music)

And that´s my point now: first I didn´t know a lot of things, like adjust the bpm, and the most dificult that was adjusting the music using the wheel. Very dificult at that time to realise wich track I need to slow down on jog wheel(in that time was the +/- buttons on gemini cd players).

Now I´m sure my best dj set is when I can use the Ableton Live. And the LAST thing u will think is finding the bpm or adjusting the "place" of the tracks. For sure this dj set is like a "live dj set", but it´s very exciting playing like this.

So I´m with Yuli here. Finding the bpm is a pain sometimes... But as I´m also a dj, I can do it!

IMHO everybody should dj the way he or she likes. I like to know how fast a track is approximately. Does this make me a loser-dj ? Maybe, but i don't care. GHA !
