Two most widely used by psy-trance labels:
Cosmophilia: http://www.cosmophilia.com (german folks, together with Hadshot and the whole lot, distributes, to name a few, Spiral Trax, Medium and Digital Structures)
Wirikuta: wirikuta@aon.at (no website) (this is Austrian, distributing ofr ppl like Neurobiotic and BooM!)
there is also the guys from Plastik Park/Sunset, who distribute stuff, but I don't know more about them...

OK I'll do this quick.
first - andy, I will only talk about Psytrance Distributions. therefore Amato, Vital, Intergroove, Prime. a good resource i found on the net for those housier - club distributions is available on http://www.crucial-systems.com/dmbr/Distributors and andres you might generally be interested in the parent site http://www.crucial-systems.com/dmbr
Trancewise: Most distributors are based nowdays in Germany. the biggest one today is
1) Cosmophilia. headed by DJ yaniv and Bianca, Exclusive distributor worldwide to many fine trance labels and with german distribution rights to many of the British and Israeli independants.
2) NTT - Indigo, a growing german distributor, handling Plastic Park, Sunset, Traktor, Manta, and some of the new dutch guys.
3) Nova Media - Distributing BNE (The infected label) in Germany, also did Freeform till recently and Leviathan rec.
4) Connected - AFAIK they only distribute NovaTekk, and I think it's an Inhouse operation from NovaTekk.
5) EFA - They are BIG!!! they are one of the Biggest Electronica distributor in the world, but they don;t seem to rush into trance distribution. they do distribute SpiritZone and Twisted on Nonexclusive basis.
6) Wirakuta - Based in Austria they started as a subdivision of Cosmophilia but nowdays are totally independant.
7) MDMA - Israeli and used to be the biggest trance distributor here (now in sort of a slump) have both independant distribution channels worldwide and a wide interactivity with Cosmophilia.
8) In israel the 4 majors (the big record companies) and BNE who are almost a major, have independant local distributions (in israel) and they have deals both with Distributions abroad and Directly with labels. Cosmophilia and Virakuta is being imported and distributed by MDMA, Novatekk by Phonokol (who also distribute USTA), Atomic, 3D vision and TIP by BNE and more.
ALso there is the rather new Psyshop internet distribution, I wish them luck.
Not included here are US distributions (it's a sea of sharks, that's one of the reasons why trance hasn't yet taken the US) and OZ and Far east dist. allthough I'm sure that in our specialized world of trance trance record stores contact directly with the distributors mentioned above.
Also quite alot of labels (especialy the british) run their independant small scale distributions. considering sucsessfull trance tittles sell about 3000-4000 copies, mostly in specialty shops, this isn't very hard to do.

i guess the one question on my mind is... distributors dont pay up-front, do they? labels have to send the product to them and then wait 6 months for payback or something? i question this because there seems to be periodic slumps in music output.. and some people occasionally mention that "distributor so-and-so hasnt been paying the labels so they're all out of cash"... and then there was that whole thing in the late 90s with the flying uk going under and taking like 15 labels with it. are distributors as predatory as rumour makes them out to be? |
