Seriously. I spent over $200 at Beatport and no matter ow many time I re-download or ask for help the files skip on my laptop, iPhone, my wife's blackberry & her laptop.
Ektoplazm & other free labels, now I've downloaded from them 3 times since this started, but for some reason the files screw my hard disk around until it crashes & I have to go an wait for 5 days for Apple to fix the problem.
I'm much happier paying a slightly higher price for a CD because in the last 20 years of buying CDs only maybe 4-5 have been screwy and the label or store replaces them for free.
The convert to WAV or MP3 no problem & storage is not a major issue if I keep my collection at a reasonable size.
But seriously, I have not had any good experience with digital downloads paid or free so I just give up. It's a shame as I know i lose plenty of quality music but it's not worth the effort only to be always disappointing by the outcome.

that's very strange, the only problems I've ever had with digital downloads are the ones from Apple and Beatport that won't import into Ableton because they are copy protected, so I have to decode/encode them in order to get them to work.

Very very strange, I also had never had a single problem. With out digital download I couldn't buy a lot of music since I live outside of US and EU.

This is indeed strange.
I don't think I've gotten any music for the last 10 years that wasn't a digital download.
Never had any issues, except for the occasional file quality issue.
There just has to be something else wrong with your machine.

I think there's a problem with your computer or the quality of your internet connection (or possibly some kind of electrical interference near your computer). I've purchased hundreds of digital tracks from all the major vendors and only had a few problems. Most vendors will also give you a refund if the track is bad. |

Ok so I was incorrect in that purchases from Bandcamp & Twisted Records seem fine but the rest is true.
It's not my laptop, I got it tested after Apple last repair for any hard or soft ware defects an independent dealer. I then doubled my RAM for producing music

there are only two possible explanations:
1) You are cursed
2) You need to learn to use computers

I had weird things happening with one or two tracks from an artist website but the guy sent right away other versions that worked. i was then in costa rica and maybe there there was something weird with the internet connection. we checked couple of times the faulty ones but had no clue how this was possible. it was like one minute was normal and then there was a weird continuation of the waveform. did you check the waveform in tractor or a daw? i was happy i could show the faulty files to the guy otherwise i probably also would be declared cursed or a computeridiot. probably something with your internet connection, nothing to do with Digital downloads suck.
