Does artifact come under the same category ?

Btw can full on be above 146 bpm ? Or does cease to be full on when it crosses that barrier ...

Some more examples of night full on will be appreciated.

I know we are trying to get rid of pigeonholing but classyfying artists under different styles is a convenience. After all everything from mr peculiar to ocelot cant be all termed psychedelic .. Yes it all is psychedelic at the end of the day but there has to be a point of reference when we talk about music.

NO FULLON CAN'T BE ABOVE 146BPM..EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT!!!!!!!!!!!

Intersting. Say if mr peculiar produced his tracks at 148 bpm insted of 144 would that make it twilight or dark ??? I know it wouldnt sound the same and why would he do something like that in the first place but its just logical questioning !!

The thing is if the baseline isnt hard (fluffy) like we have in dark psy , and he makes it using 148 bpm I think it would still be full on .. IMO it would be more like IDM meets full on

You guys are really getting ahead of you with your genremania ;-)

Btw, I agree with full_on ;-) Its just, so many names for the same thing doesnt stand much of a chance to become collectively approved.

What is night full on ? What is morning full on? Whatever the DJ spinning desides, because whatever music he/she spins at that time, becomes "time of day" full on.

Why not focus on the COLOR of the music, purely.

Dark
Grey
White

and the attitude

Aggressive
Twisted/Wacky
Groovy

and the mood

Melancolic
Dreamy
Groovy

Instead of limiting music to times of day "morning, night, day" or to geography "goa, scandinavia, suomi, israel", which says less about the music, but more of the limitations in peoples thinking = making parties more predictable and artists more limited.

Very awsome point of view Lars. You are absolutly right and it would avoid alot of confusion!           www.jesterrecords.ca

it differs i say,

if something is scary enough to make you feel uncomfy, its dark..if it makes you dance hard its full on...but then what happens if you like dark and being scard so much that it makes you dance harder?

for everyone,i think the defination must be diffrent....if you really understand psy trance...if you still go by genres and not by how the music makes you feel,u miss out man!

my two cents......

Whats is the difference between swooshes and wooshes?           Rather than feeling that you're about to have the rug pulled from under you, let me teach you how to dance on a flying carpet

Whats is the difference between swooshes and wooshes?

swoosh :to move with or make a rustling, swirling, or brushing sound.

woosh : a loud, rushing noise, as of air or water e.g a great whoosh as the door opened.
Or
to move swiftly with a gushing or hissing noise e.g gusts of wind whooshing through the trees.

of late iv found myself hating myself for trying to classify music but from my experience night full on might classify as hard twilight music, artists like azax syndrom, digital talk, phatmatix, scorb, nrs, artifakt, damage.. as far as bpm is concerned, i dont think anyone can draw a line as such. scorb just made a 150 bpm stomper, and phatmatix normally makes music around 145-146. so as such there are no real bounds that can be defined. but if u had to take an average out 146 would be a good number i guess. just giving my 2 cents.

In my eyes, "night fullon" is fun energetic stuff.."dark" is just music attempting to be psychedelic and scary at the same time..I don't like the "dark" concept at all.

Full on is not a genre. It describes an energy:

"Wow man! This shit is full on!"

"It's all kicking off in here"

"Shit man...."

Dark Describes a mood. It has nothing to do with lack of melody and movement. The darkest tracks have very haunting almost classical/baroque melodies usually accented around the minor 3rd and possibly a diminished 5th... ? I guess.

BPM has nothing to do with classification, it just means it is what it is but faster or slower. To be honest it really doesnt matter what the bpm is as long as it suites the track. There isnt much in it between 145-150 anyway. Maybe 45 - 50bpm would be highly noticeable.. but 5bpm difference around 150... you got to be looking pretty closely at your watch. I think with psy trance you can go up to 155-160 before you have to come down again, unless you smoke too much, which lots of you do.

The way I see it is there is morning and there is night and then the day joining up the 2.

There is music you like... there is music you don't like.
