I haven't been here for a while and wanted to ask the same question from long ago:
Is(Are) there any artist(s) who matched up to the shpongle "level" yet?
I mean did someone else created one hour of beautifull music jurney or not?
I sure want to think so and most want to hear something else beside dorset perception

yeah The Infnity Project it did it waaaaaaaayyyyyyy before Shpongle (tho similar producers) and I'd say that the likes of Shulman, Bluetech, Ott, Kumba Mela, Entheogenic, Androcell and Padmasana have taken those ideas and done it much better... actually for th elast 3 years Shpongle has never been playedin my chill out sets... it's just isn;t up with latests tribal ambient around... |

yea the Flooting Grooves album is magical. Much better than what Shpongle has offered lately. Cant wait to receive Organika from Peaking Goddess.
Last Asura album is very nice as a whole too, very interesting journey

The "problem" is most of recent productions aren't psychedelic. Don't get me wrong - I love all those artists mentioned above but their music isn't psychedelic enough.

the thing with artists such as Shulman is that it is mostly Dub orientated, and Shpongle would be more like psychedelic world grooves or something.
However, its always a question of taste- like someone else put it already.
I, myself, am very much in love with the Subliminal Melancholies album by Electrypnose, which to me is the most surprising album Ive heard lately.
But put it any way you want to, there's no one who sounds like Shpongle because they broke through the genre-barrier a long long time ago and they just make music in a way nobody else does it. Surprising, playful, unique, freaked out and all of that wrapped up in a package that guarantees a nice journey/trip. Nothing lasts for instance is 70+ minutes musical piece in which they just gave the tracks names and numbers because its easier for the listener to pinpoint the things they like, and for dj's to actually play them.
BUT! listen to anything on Ultimae records (Carbon Based lifeforms, AES Dana, Solar Fields) and you'll find something that might be on the same level as Shpongle is, journey-like spoken that is.

Wow man, he is great indeed, what a gem...it sounds to me in the topmost level of artists like shulman, bluetech etc...and also has that unique touch with the strong classical influence and special sound...
any more details about him??
