Has anyone ever heard of this? If not it is an annual event thats held in the summer time, around the end of may/early june, in downtown detroit. Its totally free to get in to this thing. About 70 some artists from all over the place come and play over 3 days across a multitude of different stages. The kind of music they mainly stick to is Dnb, techno, House, Tech house, and basically anything with that detroit minimilist sound. I've been going to this thing for a while now and ive never heard any psytrance. And i cant really understand why. So is anyone in michigan, or some place relatively close to michigan, willing to join forces and try to put up a psytrance booth this year?           Its like a good disease or something you know, It never goes away........

the kind of people that land up to these events (drum&b, techno<god help me> and house and stuff) and the kind of people that show up to psy events are normally poles apart ... you cant really mix the 2 sounds. very different vibes.

its something like infected mushroom playing at ultra. the only reason they fit in now is cos their musics become poppy...

believe me .. if they played anything from their older albums ... like their track Psycho .. ud have all of that festival goin "wtf!" ... just doesnt work. i dont even think it wants to work.

this is contrary to my above statement...

a dedicated psytrance booth doesnt sound like a bad idea especially if we dont have any sound conflict with the others and if we can keep it goin for a continuous 72 hours...

im in indiana but i know a few psyheads up in detroit.. will look into it further.

do u have any idea bout how much is might cost to set it up?

I think a booth would be a great idea. However, the beaurocracy involved in trying to set something like this up at the show would be extreme not to mention expensive. I live just outside of Detroit and would be more than willing to support any kind of psy related happenings around here. If anyone has more bright ideas feel free to bounce them off of me.

Second that. It might be insane to set things up and get a permit, but then again, being a scene based on electronica it might not.
Whatever the case, I'm up for it, as long as doesnt clash with Baba's visit to Asheville.

I was at Movement Festival last year. The vibe is completely non-psy. I think it would be a bad idea to try to do anything psy out there. It was a cool event but the aggressive urban energy doesn't seem like a good match for psy. But it would be a great place to flyer!! You could drop thousands of flyers at Movement, a perfect audience because I am sure there are alot of closet trancers out there.

y'all sound a bit jaded.

a lot of techno headz get into the harder darker psytrance sound. I know for a fact that some of my friends went up there last year (to hear techno, mainly) but also looking for a Spun records party, since Spun is based around Detroit, but there was none..

so maybe setting up a sound system would be a good idea. just stay away from the cheesy stuff, and you'll be fine.

Alright, so ive done a little more research into this whole setting up a booth idea. It turns out that in previous years the cost for a booth ran somewhere around the area of $1200. Yeah i know thats alot, even for a group of dedicated people to dish out. Does anyone have any ideas about defraying the costs so we can possibly try and make this thing work?

That's actually a pretty good idea. Even if they don't want to provide any talent it would still be a decent move for them. I'm sure there are more than a few DJs that would be willing to ride in from Toronto, Chicago, Cleveland, etc. Failing that, we could fundraise online maybe? Personally, I'd throw down a c-note or two to help the cause.

ssup Mark,
Are'nt u going down for Baba Gil's trip to Asheville??
Man, that is goin to be worth it.

Anyways gettin back..
the Fundraise online thing might actually work.
Lets say who do we have nearby...
Cleveland, Chicago and Toronto definitely have a larger more active psy-presence than us in detroit, so maybe it should be a joint effort.           ~*** You can tell By the way i use my walk, Im a woman's man, No time to Talk***~

It was Meghan from Cleveland. I'm pretty sure the entire Goahead crew would be down for something like this. Unless, of course, they have other plans for the weekend.

Yep, I played in Detroit at a rave last June and the party kids loved it. Heck, I'm a party kid myself. Always have been and always will be. I'm not a hippie like just about everyone else on here.

I play Psytrance at a lot of rave/club/multi-genre events. Everytime I spin it at an event that has other genres, everyone really enjoys it. There are a lot of people I know that like a lot of different genres, but also like Psytrance as well.

Not only do I spin Psytrance, but I also spin: Progressive House, Techno and Breaks. I don't spin any Drum & Bass, but I do enjoy listening to it everynow and then. It makes for good driving music.

I would love to come up and play, but around that time I'll be over 8 months pregnant and won't be doing any traveling. My last gig until my baby is born is the Butterfly Dance Ritual in Cleveland that my crew is doing. The earliest I should be ready to spin out again after that would be this August.           http://www.psylicious.com
