Would you say that producing with desktop speakers highly limits your producing capabilities (as opposed to monitors) ? I've been using them for quite some time now and it just feels like EQing is taking far longer than it should.

yes, you need good monitors. you will notice that it is much easier to mix and eq. i have only got the wharfedale dimond pro 8.1 active monitors, they were only about £150 new and i was really pleased with the sound quality for this price range. i know there not top of the range but they pack a good punch and sound really crisp and i love nothing more than to wait till everyone is out and crank them right up with some slamming psy running through them

i would look at a few reviews and maybe the "mother of all monitors" thread first and maybe get abit more advice from some people.
