Yes mate.....i know some ones complete deaf....i don´t know if is for play or theys have problems before start to play, but yes, this things happen.
I see some years ago in a dance magazine an advertising of ear protector specially for dj´s, not for use when you play, but for use beetwen you are in the party and don´t play. If this is your way of life, and every weekend you are exposed to powerfull sound....mmmmmmm,you can imagine.

use ear plugs, theres been once or twice I've left a party early because the music was too loud and I didnt have any ear plugs.

I think a few DJs here use them when spinning also because the rest of the sound system is too loud

Do use ear plugs when you go to play somewhere, specially if you do this often. If you spend too much time at the dance floor before your perfomance, keep them on your ears, it's surelly to help your perfomance, as it avoids the loss of sensibility in your ears due to the exposure to high sound levels.

And it really doesn't matter how many times you play. Exposing yourself, even once, to very high sound levels right before your perfomance really jeopardizes immediately your ability to hear, and this leads to an even worse situation, for many djs then increase the mixer's headset volume level, which makes the bad, worse.

And one hint: If you're beggining to find sometimes hard to hear while you're talking over a mobile phone, (so you keep its volume at a higher level), or have to really concentrate in a conversation in a place where there are many ppl talking at the same time in order to hear, or then, think that many songs seems to lack in mid & high frequencies, you'd better talk to a physician.

I use Ear plug everynight(can't sleep without them anyway)

After a mix my earing is so badly damaged that i must put earplug in immediatly for at least 4-5h during the reste of the party.

If you think you can't listen shit with earplug, go right in front of the speaker... you can't have a better sound in a indoor party, IMO.           http://www.spannungsbogen.com

I've had a ringing hit me for up to a week at a time in my left ear it's been happening for a long time now and it can be SERIOUSLY annoying. I bring good ear plugs with me now but don't always wear them.

I don't go to indoor partys anymore, music is
always too loud.

I hate to loud music, and these people that say
it have to be loud or even louder than loud, they
are already deaf or they have no sense for good music.

I've been reading a lot in these last few months about the influences sounds in general exhert upon the structure of the ear. And ill-use of sound can be really devastating to one's ears, it really CAN'T be understimated. But it's such a lenghty subject..!

Anyway, this is no joke at all....When your profession & leasure depends on good ears, DO take care of them, don't take symptoms or strange noises lightly, they may be signaling you it's time for you to do something about them.
