Released: November 2005

Tracklist:
01. Insanity
02. Mutants
03. In Virux
04. Full Psychedelic
05. All Synths Are Possible
06. Sinthetic Cell
07. Analog Style
08. Hell In Pain
09. Aliens
10. Deamons From Hell

The review:

Here's some promotext first (from Saikosounds): "From Russian based Deja Vu Records comes the debut album of DarkPsy

DarkPsy is Jonathan Molinari a French guy living in Portugal since his childhood. The encounter with Trance happened at some parties in 1999. Jonathan felt an urge to become a DJ at that time and starting mixing some of his favourite music. Rapidly he understood that his direction was in creating music, so after one year of DJing and attending parties he started his new adventure of music production and DarkPsy was born!

DarkPsy production is characterized with solid dark kicks, hard basslines and some amazing percussion games all topped with cosmic dimensional leads, riffs and melodies. All processed thru creepy effects!"

With that out of the way you have a general idea what to expect and here goes track by track:

Track 1: Starting off with some samples from the movie 'Fifth Element' a kickdrum slowly fades in and after 40 seconds you're off. Massive bassline and kickdrum and a haunting padsound in the background of it all. Acidic melodies dripping all over the place in this one. You're gonna get a lot of these creepy padsounds in the background so better get used to it Anyway, a strong way to open the cd.

Track 2: Immediately starting off with action and another creepy padsound in the background. Again acidic sounds all over the place, it gets quite busy. Near the end a bassline change and there you have it. Another solid dark track.

Track 3: More up front than track 2, this one has less dark pads and more acidic action and some sweeping kinda noises. Good track again, and certainly psychedelic enough to keep you interested.

Track 4: Has some more creepy pads in store for you amidst the acidic loops and melodies. A trademark Darkpsy thing is the way he manages to sound completely psychedelic and hard yet retaining a certain edge that keeps the track in your head even after you've played the album, which I find pretty rare in dark psytrance.

Track 5: More a standard track this one. No creepy pads in this one, but instead it goes all out acidic-wise. Still, this is one of the least memorable tracks here, but pretty good nevertheless. I like the bassline changing near the end.

Track 6: Goes ballistic on you again and in a harder way than track 5. Excellent track to get the floor stompin'. Nice track here.

Track 7: More atmospheric again with the pads and it's instantly more memorable again either. Great work on the sounds on this one. Kinda edges itself in your brain. Nice track.

Track 8: In sound more like the first few tracks on the album and it delivers. Pads, massive acidic sounds and a great bassline. Good stuff.

Track 9: Has some high squeaky sounds and it gets really wild near the end. Pretty good track. Not one of the best tracks, but certainly not bad either.

Track 10: Hard acidic sounds and generally pretty uplifting stuff. No chill to end the cd here. Nice hard and dark psytrance.

Conclusion time: Well, it certainly lives up to the name 'darkpsy' hehehe Seriously folks, 10 tracks here and not a weak one in sight. Maybe two tracks that are a little less than the rest, but that leaves 8 excellent tracks. And that's quite an effort, especially for a first album. Anyway, I enjoyed (still do actually) this album immensely and if you like some good dark psytrance I suggest you search it out and do the same! 8,5/10 from me here. And if you can't find this one you could always check out his second album 'Silent Noise' which seems to be pretty good too, although I haven't listened to that one myself yet.

Nice review Acidhive!
I just can't get enough of Fear & Silent Noise!

I had to hunt down the Fear Cd as it's been out of print and circulation for sometime. Finally I was able to buy it used from a memeber on another forum. What a masterpiece, I struck gold getting this Cd!
The lucky people who have this Cd just don't want to sell it... & I know why!
Mind twisting, brain mumbing all the way from the first track to the last!

Silent Noise is another one of my prized possesions!
It's not 'dark' like Fear, but kicks a great punch to my ears with hard bass lines and melodic melodies! A nice change of pace from Jonas... two Cd's from DarkPsy... two different styles!
Both are winners!

Dark Elf: It looks like Beatspace still has a few copies in stock. I got mine from Beatspace about a month ago or so. Very smooth and fast delivery.
