HandA, do you actually like trance music? Have you ever danced to it a whole night through and into the day?
Do you really think Alien/Drug/Movie samples are what Evil Doctor means when he is talking about "people who actually have something to say"?
The message lies beyond the samples and you don't need words to bring a message across at all.
Dance into trance and you'll get the message
BTW Trance as (I repeat myself) "a way of looking at life" is political, philosophical and environmental. |

If dancing to and loving trance since 1992 count then yes to your first 2 questions.
Now what I meant was that our scene is properly one of the most "un-communicative" scenes in the world when it come to messages such as political stuff ect. I am aware of that there's some people in the scene who's thinking about this stuff and make parties to support a good cause. Like Eathconnection and Free Tibet. But let's face it. The majority in this scene be it thh people on the dancefloor, the artists or the labels don't have much messages beyond the fact that they want more drugs and faster music |

great words HandA ......
Pointy ....... if the trance is way of life , political, philosophical and environmental
so why the hell most of trance listeners do not discuss about politics or talk about goverment of freedom and avoid worldwide laws ...... which is anarchy defined .... anarchy is wrong political way
philosophy is very dangerous , ppl who use this sense mostly stay alone coz of their thoughts
we can say same thing abour every kind of music or whole art ......... and trance is just subgenre of electronic music .......
i hope you state such things on doped head aka "philosophical drugs" and not fresh ... |

Totally agree with that HandA and I am glad to hear that you are a long time trance lover and haven't stepped out because of disappointment or something.
I was writing in the "Warning! Uninspired psyshit all around us" thread earlier, I copy&paste it here, because it describes my view of the trance scene quite well:
"When I got into it '94, the majority of the people saw in the trance culture more than just music. There was a feeling of creating something different from the consumption society we were living in. The vibe was so strong, people really believed they will make a change in this material world. The whole thing was new and exciting and there was a lot of talk about spirituality, many people were reading books like "The tenth inside" and stuff like that.
New people comeing into the trance scene were feeling this energy and the people being involved for longer were eager to tell the new ones about the philosophy and ideas behind the trance culture,'initiated' the newbies.
When trance got big, it suddenly was more new people comeing, than there was 'old' ones and these couldn't keep up with the 'initiations'.
Suddenly the people who were connecting trance music to a philosophy, were a minority and the 'vibe' got less strong and the sounds were not so new and exciting anymore.
The newbies have taken over....
Just let them do their thing....
Make small parties, where the majority of the people share your ideas and start spreading 'the good old vibe' from there again.
If you are giving up on what you believe is right, than the only one to blame is yourself."
It's a vast subject we are touching here: politics, philosophy, environment and it's connection to the 'trance culture'.
For me it has very much to do with each other and if that is a cause of smoking dope everyday, I can only say:

Dark Sequenced Sounds music also effects people in the wrong manner as they do not even know how to communicate with people just like the music! I am sorry for them in a way they are lost in a bubble of dark sounds and no energy! People who know trance music well do not talk to each other with any competition at all cause when the music is good everybody has the same feeling and the energy is high because everybody is together even if its dark but its good!
