Hey guys, while I've been listening to a fair bit of dark psy lately, and the stuff that I absolutely love are tracks like Derango - Hole in the ground (rmx) and also like the start of derango - secret surroundings, all the sweeping liquid effects of darkpsy, but with funky/melodic type basslines underneath. Derango is great for this, as a lot of their tracks contain multiple bassline changes, with like pulsings things, funky things, stereo bass all that. Also, their basslines tend to *swing* as well. Are there any other artists like this?

if u looking funky sound with darkness elements

you should check Dronebixie Aka Hokus pokus

most funky dark project that i know.

also another funky and litlle bit nighter line

its loopus in fabula

its not like derango or dronebixie style

but its music that can run over the night i.m.o and its super funk sound.

Thanks for all the replies guys, finding some awesome artists thanks to this topic. The samples I've heard of dronebixie, a ton of the artists on Sanaton as well as Savage Scream and Horror Place all sound awesome, can't wait to buy some of their cds.

heh, horror place has a few interesting bass lines, like 'Computer Glitch', but besides that... the clips didn't offer much in the funky department, admitedly i to listen to have get Hobya in full. Don't get me wrong it's good music, but is not what i think of as funky. From what i know Big Noise, Strezz, DMT Vs. Kreven, some of Dejan's stuff is very bouncy. Very few names have been mentioned that reach the funky levels of whole in the ground to ground to my ears... but i do like to place that track on a pedestal

Hehe, maybe Derango is just in a league of their own.. i mean it's good that people are mentioning all these artists because i really like that sort of night/dark psy sound even if it is not as funkified as some of Derango's stuff (not so much the double R.E.L. stuff, bass is a bit high pitched, i prefer a deeper, pulsier tone), but the pinnacle of it for me is when a track has both the rolling/swinging sort of 16th bass lines, as well as crazy broken up/8th note bass lines like hole in the ground, which is just awesome. In other words, i'm much more interested in rhythmic explorations/deviations in the bass from the standard 16th note rolling bass, as opposed to 16th note with just melodic changes.
