What i mean that the most of the projects that you consider as "darkpsy" isnt dark at all, but fast trance with lots of sounds. they mostly dont use any dark elements at all and the tracks are not "scary".

so we agree that dark and bpm are not conented..
i think the main problem here is you cant tell what is dark music..because its in the eye of the beholder..i can think somthing is dark and you will think its somthing else..thats why what i think is dark music is not nececery dark to you..same thing with morning and night music. |

Yep, you are right, thats all in the eye of the beholder. I would like to get an example of a real dark track in your opinion since i havent heard something like that for a long time.

well..
penta-leave a messege(and the hole albome is the definition of dark in my opinion..)
digital talk-akara(also this albom-new age surff..is what i see as dark..
delta-as a child i could..also-thing...basiclly delta is different kind of dark.
midimiliz,opsis.
and my tunes are not reaslesed yet:) but i have one realesed..called the magic madicine..dont know if you will like it but its dark allright.

I have a big problem to understand that point in the psy music world . Realy (Not joking at all) . Well , Maybe i dont know what 'Dark' is , All is realy confuse at those days (Even with the definitions) I know (By the name) that dark must be DARK And i find many artists that catalogue themselfs in to the dark area but they are not . I think today evrybody think they make dark music and i think must be new arrange & order in here . Maybe i see the dark darker then he is i dont know but seems that the dark of today (Imo) Are realy not satisfactory . There is some good artists (Dont say that not , Even here in israel) But i wish hear all much harder and real .

i agree with you sound surgeon.
fast doesn't make a track dark, fast makes the track intense.

there is a KILLER dark track in there thats 200 bpm. killer dark!
slow dark is good too. one VERY GOOD artist thats DARK but slow is PONDSCUM from australia. he is released on "freemason conspiracy" va and a few more.

of the dark artist in israel i take my hat off to "crying orc"
"dark" and "light" are very subjective and relative. to me, dark resides in the atmosphere, not so much the beat or bpm.
to be honest, most artist you guys have mentioned here i dont even consider very
my all time favorite dark artist is
Derango! derango will give them all nightmares! and make them dance.
so will any of these artist:
Horror Place (aka Zik, Matutero, Adrenal Glands)
Orestis
Phobos Azazel
Cymazz
Xikwri Neyrra
etc, etc, etc, to just name a FEW... i can write a very long list.

anyhow , the music changes , or the mind of peaple ?
or just how they call stuff ?
i think this all genre talks , is weird , but can help sometime to define yourself (if you want to) as long evryone around speak the same expressions
for example , i read this topic to see what peaple call "dark" so i can talk with them and understand their idea of genres
another example is proggressive , by the name it supose to be super advenced music , but its not.its actualy very minimal and simple.. some will agree , some will not , i only want to see what your opinions on that.. and how you define artists.

btw: in my opinion progressive music has reall artistic craftwork in sound design...wich is something you obsoulutly cant say about 'dark' stuff....
