It seems like they complicated the 101 design to form a multilayer + fx synth... marketing trying to compete with big name vsts... i rather have a simple 101 clone like the TAL elektro but with a higher quality sound.

same here listened on crappy headphone but the sound seems too modern ! maybe it s the patch used , have to try the demo i m sure it s gonna be good for some sounds, sh101 sounding or not.

would love to see tal coming out with a new sh101 one like their new juno too.

lol just quote this from a guy on kvr

i have a 101 and it sounds like crap compared to Diva - SH-101 is very retro - it makes you sound like a band from the 70's i think.. Diva is warm and rich and versatile.. i would pay $400 for Diva before i'd buy another 101..

really all about taste in the end..but that retro feel is very charming for me,it s not really present in any newer analog stuff i heard except in some modular and maybe some of the mfb stuff but it can sound kinda lowend.. even a voyager sound kinda modern, a new sem, a phatty,frxs.. they all sound great but a bit closer to va to me , its maybe more suited when after modern sound.

That's because you hear a phatty in a track where it has been processed. The phatty is generally not bright at all, has loads of mid and tons of bass. It sounds like an analogue synth when you hear the raw sound out of your speakers. It just does not sound as noisy as the SH-101 I used to have, which is a + in my book. It can sound modern if you EQ it to fit a modern sounding production. I have had many VAs and the Phatty does not sound like a VA at all.

modern analog sound would suit better that VA, maybe it s cause it s very stable and less noisy than vintage synths dunno

the sound? AMAZING!

Really really nice sounding. I too wish it was a more simple but the features on it seem to be well thought out and they all sound good.

It's obvious that they spent a LOT of time on the effects and the interface, its not tacked on as a gimmicky bonus - this is a really really deep synth.

I've already used this on a new track.

BUT! no midi CC....no automation...only tweakable with mouse...gr! bug of course but a frustrating one.

I did find that was a funny restriction - it made my workflow strange, but I found that the sliders do respond to mouse scroll and I have a mouse scroll that I can flick up and down and it coasts...so I basically just did livetakes with using my mouse wheel as a strange LFO.            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe
