Switching between scene memories/automated function in real time (obviously prepared for the live show).
Also assigning e.g. mutes and synth patches to your controllers to switch between sources and patterns. Experiment! |

You could do a couple different things. Like someone said before with the 24 track recorder and pre record all of your files and use a dat and a track sequncer (which imho makes for a lame ass performance). Or you could spend loads of cash get the equipment learn how to actually play an instrument like a keyboard/ piano, and the live guitar and drums sounds good too. But seeing as how alot of electronic musicians dont know jack about the liveness of their set you should come up with your own version of "live"

well. it depends on how live u wonna get.......
using a play back like astral , infected, exile and many many more isn't a real live in the real sence of the word. it's just like a DJ who mixed it all up at home and plays a bit here and a bit the a pad or arp on a keyboard.
if u wonna win a true live spirit of electronic improvisation, just get few moduls, a sample player or a sample and drum machine that can enable shor sycnses, and a relayable midi interface to conect them all
then start digging into the manuals to those corners that no "computer relay studio" producer will never get to, and figure out how those musical instruments can talk with each other on ur setup.
it takes loads of time, experementing, and making new ways to creat ur music. it's not an easy job but it's great fun.
and just know that - leaving the computer behind will give u alot of freedom for REAL IMPROVISED MUSIC!!!
the ability to record every pips on a computer in the electronic era realy damaged the musical ability of musicians to comunicate "on the spot" at any given time between themselfs and with the crowd.
gainig back this ability is what will take electronic music to it's next steps.
that's my vision
