Been looking around the production forum but can't seem to find exactly what i'm looking for. Does anyone have tips (midi files would be a great help) - on creating a psy moving rolling bassline. Thats how i describe it in words. An example is something like ESP - Minds Eye. The bassline is all over the place and it sounds freaking cool.

Have a listen here:

track 5 @ 23s when it kicks in
Any takers?

come on man, if you searched the forum, you would find useful info on that. It is not really a rolling bassline what we usually call it, more of a full-on bassline, the key is in notes, try to play the track very slow and take down the notes of bassline, other than that you can achieve it with simple vb-1 or other synth, eq it (don't cut too much from below) also playing with velocity set to cutoff env is a good idea do your homework -check this shit if you are lazy - very good tutorial

Yes, you're the first person to be as vague as possible when describing a bassline:

Yeah, sure. If I don't have a user, then who wrote me?

lol, fair enough it is pretty vague. What I was trying to get across was the specific ESP full on bassline. A few others can do it. electric universe and the odd tune - but few sound as good as those.

Thanks a million for the help, i think the slow down method is good and i've used a wav/mp3 to midi converter which i've been able to strip the bassline notes out of.

Subconscious mind has an excellent tutorial but its hardly using that erratic bassline sound. The basslines that sit on the bottom of the mix, flying all over the place and then add the synths flying all over the place on top of the bassline and it kinda melts the brain.

Maybe because Electric Universe is Boris Blenn and ESP is him + Olli Wisdom?
