I buy a lot of CD's every week. When I buy a CD, I think the cover art is pretty important too. Or else I could just have bought some mp3's...

Lately, I have seen some totally crappy cover arts. So bad that it is actually hard to believe that it is released...

Here are my top 5 worst cover arts I have seen lately:

Nr. 1 (The BADest...)
V/A Potato Gun (Insomnia Records)
http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/ino/ino1cd002.html

Nr. 2 (Oh BAD!)
Peter Gun - Pressure Point (Millennium)
http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/mil/mil1cd116.html

Nr. 3 (Say CHEESE!)
V/A Raveolution Reloaded (Phonokol Ltd.)
http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/pho/pho1cd307.html

Nr. 4 (This looks just like Hits for Kids Vol. 143!)
Alien Project - Don't Worry, Be Groovy! (TIP.World)
http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/tip/tip1cd034.html

Nr. 5 (????)
V/A Reefer Madness (TIP.World)
http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/tip/tip1cd031.html

Well, these cover arts made me really laugh! They are so bad that it's almost funny! Or is it sad? I wonder what the labels/artists thought when choosing cover arts like this.. Don't they care about how their releases looks at all?

ok i have no problems with either 2 or 4... with 2 i dont see why people have a problem with minimalism. just because its not a 3d max rendering doesnt mean its bad, or sad as u say... and as far as 4 is concerned: whats wrong with manga? sure im sure alien project has nothing to do with the subculture and has just appropriated the style for aesthetic value, but hey, not badly done...besides wizzy noise has been doing the manga look for ages now, u have a problem with their covers/site as well?

hey my 2 cents, and yes as always, its about personal taste...           ****andmysoulsbeenpsychedelicized****

There is good and bad when it comes to minimalism art too.... Yes, I actually have a problem with a couple of the Wizzy Noise cover arts too, but they are far better than these 5...

By the way, I don't think it's always about personal taste when it comes to quality of music and art. Some art and music is definetely more quality than others...           CHILL TRIBE

depends what u define as quality, everyone has their definition of the phrase, hence everyone has their own opinion on it... and if u have an opinion, u have a sense of what u like and what u dont....           ****andmysoulsbeenpsychedelicized****

I definitely agree with the first three covers. they don't make you wanna buy the cd. Sad? NO. People make choices and then suffer the consequences. Just hope they'll fix their taste
As for the other two they are just fine as far as I am concerned. Manga's cool and I don't see why all the psy covers should have the same style. And that TIP cover gives a psychedelic taste...           Long Live The Trance!!!

I think the TIP cover is ok, in their usual style...at least its not just some lame photoshop filter with some fractals and crystals           DJ Dovla | Interchill Records, Flow Records

I agree that these covers are sucky, especially the Alien Project one in my opinion. Whatever happened to good old Mark Neal paintings like the covers for Twisted (Hallucinogen) or Phototropic (Transwave) ?? Covers should reflect a little about how the music is to be interpreted. Look at the metal scene. Probably not everyone's cup of tea on this site, but man, what a cover paintings they have!! Check out At The Heart Of Winter from Immortal for example. Now there's a cover that is beautiful to look at AND reflects about the music/lyrics in that album.           "Subconscious unravels at the point of death, and all time it has known erupts into a moment. As death extinguishes us, so we become it."
