Here's how I see it :

morning music : music suitable for the early hours of the day (rather happy and energetic)

night music : music suitable for the heart of the night (dark, harsh and spooky)

Very simple, almost a pun, but is there really a much deeper meaning ?

its just another subjective division of a small musical genre into a couple of even smaller ones.. divide and conquer say the style police           >>love will tear us apart...<<

so..

morning music = melodic, groovy, full on, goa ..that sort of stuff

night music = progressive, tech, minimal

?

I don't get it really..

why do we have to make such regulations? i'd love to hear good music thru the entire party.. don't really give a flying u know what what is played during any time of the day/night as long as it's good..           "The dinosaurs became extinct because they didn't have a space program."

full on can also be night music... dark full on like penta for example           When I dance, I put myself in the DJ's hands to take me to a journey - the unconscious journey to reality

Well, you don't have to obviously... All these subgenres are very artificial at the end of the day.

Maybe the night/morning thing gets back to the famous "shamanic experience" a DJ set was supposed to be in the early days on the shores of Anjuna. Goa Gil used to talk a lot about that in his interviews.

traveller, for sure we all prefer to hear good music whole party, but as u can agree good music can be different.
so, prooved at open air (goa) parties thing is - that at night time music that will be played will be dark and in the morning melodic/happy/positive.
no matter what style (goa, prog, full on).
its just a feeling of music.
im sure with more visits at open airs you will get this thing:)           Believe your soul !

pumping fullon can be night music aswell , lotsa artists creates high beat night tracks
Psysex,Shift,Penta and more...
fast and pumping music but with more mechanics sounds and darker , more "digging" ur head unlike the morning fullon which is kinda light and has more light sounds , close to euro-trance i'de say. (melodies and rhythm)           I'm The Superviz'a Can I Get The Taxi Numbah?!

guess it's easier to keep people moving with happier music too, making the softer more melodic more favourable for sunsets, cause it brings out the smiles in people!           www.psytracks.com :: Brand new website for sharing your psytracks with the world. That's if to remember parties when there wasn't fullon or minimal but only psy goa, usually all were fast bpm of course.... the psy tracks with kind of an evil melodic feeling were at night, although lots of other melodic was at night too - and energetic goa in the morning.

The unwriten rules of trance, ha?

I know that here in Israel there is a kind of seperation betwwen night time sunrise and morning time. night time mostly progressive music, sunrise=melodic music and the morning brings the fast full-on 2 the air.
on the other hand, i've been 2 goa last season. and there things r totally diffrent. there isnt much seperation between any part of the party, the full-on controls most of the time...

so the bottem line,as i c it, is that the defenitions 4 night and morning music r changing from place 2 place.

Well, it used to be a simple division - at night where the party experience is much more a 'solo' one for the dancer, then the music was very psychedelic. When the sun starts rising, it's time for emotion, to get smiles on people's faces.

Nowadays people somehow overcomplicated this seemingly simple issue - the night is becoming less dark and more of a warm-up phase for the morning music, and when the sun finally starts shining, it's time for the music to become less controlled and more flowing, or a zillion different ideologies (I heard that in Germany the night is usually the main event and that the morning is more of a 'wind down' experience, in Australia when I was there it was 'give more power please' all the way, when I was in frisco there wasn't really any division between night and day).

Basically - it comes down to this - at night the party is each person's own thing, the music and a party (deco, lighting) is the background for the personal experience - but when the sun rises then the rest of the partygoers and the beautiful spot in nature give off a very strong vibe, and then it's when you want to have smiling, happy, colorfull vibes. All the rest of the definitions are DJ mumbo-jumbo as far as I'm concerned... as long as I enjoy dancing.           http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222

Morning music is very different compared to where you live and how long you've been into this scene.

Here in Scandinavia and other northern countries like Germany morning music have from the beginning mainly been slow down, ethnic, melodic music that would make people come down to earth after a deep faster psychedelic night experience (yes people actually showed up in the night before 1am).

Now it has changed and we see much more proggy slower music in the mornings here which I think is nice

It also used to be like that in Israel but we all know that it totally changed (for the worse in my opinion - Full On is in my opinion the wrong music for mornings).

Today a lot of music can be considered morning music. Even music that in my opinion is way too fast for the mornings.

Let's face it people do drugs !

So in my opinion morning music should be music that wind people down, make them relax (here come in the slow factor), be beautiful and put a smile on their faces....

It should not make them more stressed, be dark and furious, be too fast and too mulitilayered.

So to sum it all up.... Night music is also morning music and versus

But in a perfect world it would be (my opinion of course - maybe the scene need a re-education?):

Night: Deep, darker and faster (not 145 - 147) music. Proggy is very welcome too

Morning: Relaxed beautiful athmosphereic and ethnic slower music that will make people come down and relax.

It have to be said that I am more into progressive now. But a party with the right kind of deep psychedelic music (not GMS and the 1.000.000 clones of Full On) would be fun to attend. Eventhoug I doubt anyone know how to throw such a party today :-(
