Well it seems that After a long struggle that Cosmophilia have finally gone bust. One of the original Goa/Psy distributors, after the long gone Koyote Distribution(UK), Cosmophilia helped build the Psy Trance scene through sales and record label promotion. respect to Yaniv, Markus and all @ Cosmophlia, thanks guys for keeping the labels & distribution for so long. You will be missed.
my faer though is that this is onkly the Tip of the Iceberg, after all, how many of us used to buy lots of Cds and now no longer do? Anyone want to discuss wether oyur scene is about to implode and head frimly back underground? Afetr all, with no sales there will be no labels??/

I have asked around and yes it is so.
very sad that circumstance has seen fit to end this chapter is Psy history. And of course they also had Hadshot as their label. I dont know if that will be effected. i know how much work over many years Yaniv Tall put into his company and the Psyscene. Respect to them for stuggling on. Its a falsehood that labels or distributors make money in this scene, you have to do it for the love.
I am also aware that they owed several labels for sales which it now looks like will not get paid, so i dont think we have seen the end of this collapse yet. After all. When Flying UK went bust, TIP and many others had to close also, however TIP were able top re-open as TIP World but we nearly lost them, and where would we be without TIP World. That new lucas CD is a good release.

Well thats just typical. Id shoudl expect no less. of course over the years a lot of people didnt get paid. But i never saw Yaniv in his Merc or with any money at all as far as I know. I love this scene, No matte how much effort you put in to supproting it someone always wants to slag you for it.
Bit of a waste of space really.

Sorry simplepsyman, but u maybe blind since Cosmo was in great debths for very long time now that can be counted in years, and the main reason in my opinion for that was because of unproportional growth of the company, and irresponsible management.

If you are so keen on protecting its ways tho, maybe u will be able to answer my question - Ofcourse Cosmo's managers knew about the situation, so how come till 2 months ago they got more and more stock knowing they cant pay it off? How come they still pursuaded lables to give them exclusivity for their releases?

The bottom line is that many many labels will close now, from smallest to big ones, and the overcome of this will be very hard.

Anyone to blame? I wouldnt throw names here but surely the artists did no wrong and the labels should have foreseen the upcoming, but this is small fries...

Hi Yuli
1st im not blind, 2nd im not "rotecting its ways"??

As for your question?
Of course the writing was on the wall, and maybe it wasnt correct to TRY to make it work even when things seemed hopeless.

Often people who run companies are not the graetest manaagers, what we gotta run the whole world like a business?

Its precisly that the labels and artist will be effected, and of course they did no wrong.
But all Yaniv tried to do was distribute the msuic for the artists and labels. If he was in it for the moeny he would have chosen a diiferent job long ago. I have no reason to defen hiom and he made mistakes for sure. I just dontt think he had bad intentions.
If you wanna get the knives out - Goahead. Im sure its the leats of his worries.
Peace.

Check your mailbox for more personal approach to this matter... But just on this little paragraph I will react here:

Yeah man, Business has to be run by professionals - especially business this big. When one steps into these shoes one has obligations to a hard work of many ppl that can rise or fall on one action of the manager of the company. One has to be very sure he wants to do this, but when u r in - you GOTTA DO THIS WELL.           A man with a "master plan" is often a woman

The margins look really tight for a small specialist web-record company.

In UK retail a CD album is about 13.00 The websites (like Chaishop, Chaos and Cosmophilia) are about 8.50 ex VAT.

The economies of scale of a large chain make it cheaper for them to buy in CDs and get them delivered in. Off the margins they have to pay staff, buy stock -smaller quantities of CDs/records shipped in is more expensive, insurances, utility bills, IT and web bills, telephone.....

I don't know how they do it. It doesn't seem for a huge amount of profit.
