In beatport for example you get payed exactly for what you have sold. Very simpel system, i like that.
Then every artist on a compilation pretty much gets what they deserv. Imo you have better perspective of whats going on with this digital market as an artist instead of cd sales, where u hardley ever see any money from.

valid points from all here imo (including the OP). things we all know already though, at the moment things are strange and change very quickly with new models. hard to keep up sometimes

Why should we release on Warp Brain Records? Do you get paid 10000 for a track? Free hookers? Lot's of gigs and promotion? If you really want to find some well produced music you should maybe put a bit more effort in attracting them by giving a professional amount of info (again: not trying to be an ass, just helping out).

WTF? I see plenty of requests EXACTLY like this around the net from established labels, why are you singling this one out?

Maybe they wanna find more unknown producers than the same tired old prog that gets churned out either Zenon or Iono style.

I saw this one and I just thought it could be more professional. No reason why I chose this one really. Don't consider it a insult or a bad remark. Do you disagree the message can't be better?

So if they are looking for different stuff than just say so! Now the post doesn't give much info.

ok, just some clarification why there was an "errr. please delete" comment on this thread by me. It was not meant as a personal offense to Emiliano and his label. WBR did release an EP of mine last year, and I do not mean to piss them off. Granted, this label has to learn more about marketing, but, they are working on it. So, if you guys want to release sound and have sound for this comp (I don't produce any proggy these days) take a chance. And be realistic when you submit. Even established labels rarely sell more than a few hundred copies, so don't expect overly much money from a release. What you can expect when you release with a label is their promotion of your act, like being featured on the artist page when you release a cd or ep with a label.... And that imo is a lot more valuable than a few $ from a track on a comp...

BTW. I have not seen posts like that from any established label. They don't need to post, they are established.           Upavas - Here And Now (Sangoma Rec.) new EP out Oct.29th, get it here:
