The review:
So, nobody bothered to review this I see. Quite strange, because if progressive is your thing, this is one of the best things out there. Avalanche is a well known label amongst progressive DJ's already here in The Netherlands and Germany. Sebastian Krueger (from Tarsis, Digital Sun, SBK and Krueger & Coyle fame) runs this label and he has also compiled this compilation. Already to four volumes, this one is the best one yet IMO. Starting off with Transmotion's Ultraviolet the compilation immediately takes you to progressive level no. 1. A nice beat, samples from a movie I can't quite remember at this moment, and nice orchestral like pads. Smooth flowing. Next up is a more to the point proggy song, and it grooves along very nicely. Track 3 is the already infamous Switch track by Frank Beckers. While other people absolutely seem to love this, I tend to find this the worst track on here. It's far too commercial for me and the horrible vocals don't help either. I won't listen this one just for fun. Track 4 is much much better. In fact, this is one of the best tracks on here IMO. Great work already by Inkfish & Heller, but the Andre Absolut remix just rounds this off even better. Great melody, flow ... yeah, a great track! SBK comes up next and this is another smooth track. This guy can do no wrong anymore apparently. While it's not earth shattering it will leave a nice mark in a progressive set and it succeeds in doing the same here. Track 6 is more tribal like, and already this is a well known track amongst DJ's in the original version. The remix is a bit fatter and not as long. Great stuff to add in the middle or beginning of a set. Track 7 is also a previously released track but now remixed. Nice work here and the flow just keeps up, this time a little more deeper in sound. We continue in that vein with the well know Little Honey track from Antix. What I've predicted has come true. Antix have become more mainstream minded and it shows. Mainstream DJ's are picking up their tracks, which is great for them, because this way Antix will start to appeal to even more people. Good track by the way. Track 9 is more relaxed in vibe and this is clearly something I'd be playing towards the end of a nice set. Sebastian obviously agrees. Good work on the summer-vibes here, present in that nice melody. Track 10 rounds the compilation off with a more chilled ending. Almost no regular beats, this is a chill track by Marco Canedy from Vision & Canedy fame.

Conclusion time: Yep, a damn fine release. Anyone interested in progressive and in that the more mainstream, clubby kind of progressive is going to be well served here. All 10 tracks are great, but for me Track 3 is the one I like the least and tracks 4,5,6,8,9 I like the most. See that you get this. It's worth it. Special credits to Sebastian for compiling this standout compilation.

Haven't bought this one yet, but agree that the "Avalanche Of Sound" series so far has been excellent value for the money. Great, progressive house/trance material, and with a lot of 12" releases available for the CD DJ's

I've heard a few of the tracks already - especially nice to see "Switch" finally on CD, and "Ultraviolet" by Marc'O'Tools Transmotion project is stunning, though a few years old by now - amazing intro.           DJ pr0fane (Iboga Records) | Multiphase

Superb compliation. I've been puzzling over the samples on Ultraviolet too. I think they're from The Sixth Sense but I can't be bothered renting it to check. Strange how crap movies provide the most atmospheric samples.

Yeah, absolutely lovely compilation. My personal favourite must be André Absoluts deep, emotional remix of "Swallowed By The Light". Marco Canedys downbeat track is also much better than the latest mediocre Vision & Canedy releases. Beckers, Transmotion, LaForge, SBK and Philo also provide some very high quality material.

The best in the "Avalanche" series so far, and certainly essential for the progressive CDJ's looking for the more house-oriented sound.           DJ pr0fane (Iboga Records) | Multiphase
