I took an original Violet Vision cd (the your voice single).
Extracted the audio signal in Sound Forge, and this is what I see. Explains the distortion I hear in the sound.
Happens on 2 different drives, with 2 different exctraction progams.
I'm quite sure it's not a problem in my computer.

What is happening here? Mistake by BNE? Lack of quality control? This is no amateur release... Veteran act from a veteran label.

Edit: For those who don't understand what this is about, it's like taking a statue and cutting off his nose.

maybe it's intentional...? maybe it's part of the song?           "We Do Not Allways See Things As They Are. We See Things As We Are" -Ancient Chinese Proverb

Definitely not.
It messes up the quality...

And since you have some knowledge in sound (I assume) you should know that something like that (in the pic) can not be intentional.

Depends on the genre. I hear a lot of clipping and distortion in Metal           Everyone in the world is doing something without me

couldn't it be some kind of copy protection ?

in my experience that's what they try and do, make the audio distorted when you try and extract it to pc

It looks like a bad mastering job.
But I am not sure if I understand you right, does it have the distortion also before you copy it to your PC?

Ok after running some more tests at it, it seems like it's copy protection or some kind of it.

Real player has 2 ways to play a cd: analog (traditional) and digital (using extraction).
Analog sounded fine, while the digital sounded distorted.
Is this intentional? Because if it is, it really sucks. I can't make copies for myself to listen at home, using mp3.

I have never heard of such a feature, but if it is true that could resolve all that talk about pirating albums.

Anybody knows more about this?

Ok after listening to it 500 times on different systems I have come to the conclusion that I'm not sure.
Tomorrow I'll test it a bit more, I'll let you know what happens

another "mistake" in this track that when the voice starts singing, at first it says "Your voice"

and than it says only "your voiiiiiiiii..."
without the C!!
i checked it tons of times with my headphones           u can find "Anything U Want" using the search...

play the cd from cd-player and record it through the sound card using any program like wavelab, sound forge or cool edit...

if the waveform still looks like this it's definetely not a way of copy protection..           in search for an answer...
