I was watching the video for Michael Jackson's thriller and the thought hit me: What if we applied choreographed dance numbers to psytrance.

You can plan it out with a dj in advance and practice a routine for a particular song and when he plays it you do your performance.

It'd be even cooler if you get a couple together to do a group number.

Then maybe you can even do a music video timed to the track!           Kent

there are some people that do performances with fire and poi sticks with the music going on. All though sometimes, some of them go on to the middle of the dance area and start doing there performance routine there and it takes away from the music.

I dont mind them doing their performances, because it can be visually eye appealing, but off to the side somewhere, so that the focus is still on the music.

Ooh sounds cool.
like that dance the phillipino prisoners did to the song thriller (anyone seen it?)
but you would have to choose songs carefully, because dancing a choreographed dance to a horror dark song, wont go so well.           Love is Life

The trance dance experience comes from the heart, its not a text book excercise, and it never will be.

synchronized trance dance will just be a laughing riot....firstly all of the dancers will be under the influence of some sort and their hand to mouth co-ordination will be limited...add in a dance instructor and it will be an all out riot of some kind...           When death comes to your doorstep, make sure you are alive

I think it's one of the most beautiful things to see hundreds or thousands of people dancing next to eachother, and of course if they can make the same moves it'll be even more beautiful. But on trance music, people like to dance kinda free and their moves follow the way they feel, so I guess you can't really apply this idea to dancers in trance scene.

But If it happens, it'll be just amazing to watch those moves.

hhmmmmmmm .....

to me psytrance/psydance has always been free expression of the phsyical state .... no rules, no neccessary timing, synchronisation and such .... and i don't think it's about anything more than the music .... i would not expect anyone to put on a show, and quite honestly i would probably end up ignoring it even if they did ... no disrespect but i am too full on expressing myself to the music to care!!

good luck with your idea tho ... hope you can find some creative way to blend this concept in!!

Two quotes, to clear it up:

Napo:
"Dance like nobody is watching!!"

Who gives a shit about how to dance??? There are no rights or wrongs.

Nike:
"Just do it!!"

Regards!

OT: Speaking of MJ's Thriller, look in Youtube for a bunch of Thay (I think) prisioners dancing the coreography. Hilarious!
