I'm supposed to be playing at Karroo this Saturday.... but the venues not happening now??? No electricity apparently and they won't allow generators ....... so trying to find another venue.... V. Last minute... But .. if enough people wanna have a party I'm sure it will happen! Hope so .....

Anyway, I'm off now to indulge in my hobby of bus-surfing...

I like the Chill-Out to be a place to relax & chat, although its nice to groove at times too... imo its ideal to have more than one chill space (at the last Astral Phoenix party we had 3 different rooms dedicated to all styles of chill-out)...

By the way, did that link work for you alright? I've sometimes had trouble in the past with that for some reason....

Yeah, weird as. I have no idea why that is. If you type http://www.deviantdidg.com into the browser it works fine, but if you click the link it doesn't. Spelling looks alright to me though. Hmmm. So, plan B I guess is to copy & paste http://www.deviantdidg.com into the browser

Hi Mike (Astral Mike!),

hope alls well....... Yes! Chill-outs.... back to the original subject... Went off on a bit of a tangent there......

Good idea with the 3 chill-out rooms thing... I think chill-out is such a blank canvas these days and seems to be splintering off into so many different directions. Hooray! Be interesting to see where it all goes..... seems to be evolving nicely..

probably see you at the Liquid Connective party... will you be coming out to play??

i like more "urban" sound at chill out room, some glitch techno and deep house should be nice for that.           Believe your soul !

Well, first, I like chill out areas and not rooms.

When I play chillout the most important thing for me is the journey and since everything is much slower and not restricted (like trance used to be when it started), there's so much more space to have an interesting journey.

So for me there's space for everything in a good chill out set. Last party I was DJing a 5 and half hours chill set as a starters for the party and went through totally kickless music, non-electronic etnhic stuff, Pink Floyd, Ozric Tentacles, lots of dubby stuff, shpongly-like dancing material and in the end 120-130bpms progressive tracks. And ppl were dancing.

A favorite chill day was at the XPO festival when we just sat for half the day in the great chill out area listening to very diverse music from Sam from Chaishop and then Daniel from Macedonia with people around lying, sitting, talking, dancing and doing just everything, while all the time journeying with the music around them.

Was that an answer to the question? I think yes, though in a bit of a twisted way           ---------------------------------------------

I think a lot depends on where you are based - for us in the UK it generally has to be chill out rooms rather than areas - just because of the weather. Although there are outdoor parties - they are restricted to a few months a year and even then the weather gets in the way - a big 3 rig party near here was cancelled last night as it had been raining for 2 days

Indoor and outdoors are very different with well discussed pros & cons. I really like the lack of time constrictions that you get at outdoor parties - and even more at festivals where you can spend hours in the chill out area without thinking that the main room will be shut soon (most club nights in Uk shut at 6/7am) ...

BTW - I'm as much a trainspotter as the next person - but what is "glitch techno"??

Always felt sorry for you for that

I have enjoyed both Chill Out aeras and roOms.
A well done up indoOr place can be exciting I believe, despite the miss of the magic of Nature..

..but there are people that have very nice ideas to make a roOm particular, surprising, and so very likeable !

About the genre of music, well..... No Limits !
Astral Mike had a good point. Having a GroOvey 2nd-floOr/BackroOm and a more Deeper one is bluntly luxurious

It's somehow a question of state of mind, the longing changes depending on time/place/energy/weather/hehemany things..

Sweet dreams !
