I was thinking that maybe it would be a good idea for users to have the ability to flag posts as either abusive or offtopic. And so after a post gets a certain number of flags maybe it could be deleted or a notification would be sent to the moderators so they check that post out. If some users start flagging without good reason maybe moderators could suspend their flagging privileges for a little while or permanently. This might sound complicated and a lot of work but maybe its just about figuring the correct algorithm and if done right could reduce the amount of time that the mods need to patrol the site since the users would be helping out. Also it would help the mods determine what is the general consensus about what posts people consider abusive or offtopic.

Hmmmm, there is an awful lot of fear of discussing certain topics and I can grasp why that fear should be there but how about illegal parties?
They get talked about and promoted. That is also a 'conspiracy' against 'some' countries laws.
Is it a case of laws that are seen to be stupid will be ignored whilst those that could get you into some sort of trouble wont be.
It all seems a bit selective if you ask me.

^ the problem with PMing the mods is that you have to create a big deal about the issue so lots of people will just avoid it. Like it seems quite an ordeal to pm the mods to tell them you think a post is offtopic, maybe if its a really abusive post you will get out of your way to tell the mods but its kind of a hassle to be the bitching user. However if it were just as simple as clicking a button (like you can flag posts on craiglists) or many commenting systems on many sites you will get much more user engagement that way because its a simple, fast and casual way to provide feedback. |

I understand Aluxe, and I would love that feature, it was bought up a couple of times in the mods section.
However, we are no big company with lots of resources. And right now we can't implement any new function in the forum. In fact, we can't even continue with the small changes ShivaS was implementing over the years.
This place was almost shut down at least twice due to lack of resources (lack of people willing to keep it alive and lack of money to pay for the server). We survive thanks to the voluntary work of the Mods. For example, I work 10+ hours a day, have a very demanding girlfriend  , and have to deal with a lot of real life problems that suck up my time. Others are in worse shape, and also have to deal with their children, closer family, health problems, etc...
We are hiring new mods, and trying to make some small changes to make our online psy experience better. I hope it works.
And you can always PM me.  I'm very discrete and will not ban on sight, at most I will send a message to the user telling him I received a complain about his behavior, explaining this is nothing serious, and asking for him to please just pay a little more attention when posting to try to avoid hurting people.
PS. Do not PM DETOX!!! He will ban the user, then ban you and then ban me, so that I can't unban anyone.

Ever thought of doing a psymusic and asking for donations?
Also to complain that you haven't been able to implement even any of the small changes, and can't even do anything to the site, makes me think you really need to get some people who can deal with these technical issues. They aren't that complicated tbh. www.youtube.com/trancevisuals

did anything happen since then? did any slight change on the technical side occur? i would not give further suggestions, because i dont believe they would move anything any more, but it is one of the cases i would be happy to see i was wrong.
who knows, may be you are able to change at least the way people treat each other. and you could at least send a pm to those who abuse the personality of others instead of dealing non stop with the subject of what is off topic and what not. at the end of the day, none of you/us would ever give an ultimate estimation about on and off topic because we are different individuals with different interests. a button "i am interested in that topic" would do miracles btw, especially if it is connected to a keywords-database and an abonnement of topics and keywords. but anyway, you quite obviously need someone to programm that and if you dont find, may be it is a good idea to think more about the fact that your biggest resource is the user database and user traffic. but your resource is getting smaller and smaller anyway. may be use it, before you lose it completely?
summary of what happened in the last few months : nothing. so much silly off topic pictures like never before. and no mods to even care.
oh btw, why dont you fuse all those off topic sections into trance culture ( the mysticism, the books, the films, the technology etc) and put it on a more visible place? this shouldn't be that much of support work? and it costs absolutely nothing! as well as the traffic of this forum, which is not hosting movies, music, and big pics is quite low too. what does it cost to host a couple of ascii codes???
i kinda of really hate being treated like someone who is only obliged to give energy and never expect a balance back. users do give a lot to this forum too. why always this hierarchical unbalanced energy graph of who makes what for whom. but forget it.
