Hello dear friends.
Not sure if you noticed, but the forum dynamics has changed a lot, as a reflection of the changes in the psyscene itself, but now we face a couple of challenges.
There are a lot of almost DEAD country sections (for example Italy, Austria, Switzerland and even Germany) and also other sections are facing extinction. As much as it may hurt me, we will probably have to shut down some sections.
I will be posting an "Endangered Section" topic on each section we think may survive. Please post your comments over there.
Additionally, I removed the Mod statuses of more than 10 moderators who were not accessing the forum anymore (if you are a Mod and lost your status please PM me). As a result, we have some sections with no formal assigned Moderators.
So please report to me any inappropriate behavior, so that we can keep the good vibe around.
This topic will be moved to the IsraTrance Section soon.
And don't forget to have fun.

These changes seem to include making 17+ page long threads that make people smile dissapear...piece of art in itself.
This is the number 1 reason I come here, to smile, and because I have grown attached to the community. Sometimes I try to contribute by writing reviews which few people actually comment on - the reviews section also seems endangered, when very good albums receive very little discussion.

I dont mind, because at least a few nice people hang around here. In the end, all sections seem somewhat engangered. Even the trance forum is relatively graveyardish for this time of year - festival season at our doorstep and all. Dont worry if some topics become a little unsensical, as long as they make people laugh, why worry about it so much? Many people try to contribute something with substance, but you also need room for lightheartedness.
Hasnt every meaningful trance topic already been picked up here in the past decade and regurgitated 10X?
As for the country sections - this is not new. The thing I wonder about is what is the real use of the country forums? Let me take the Germany forum as an example. I go there now and then and wonder - why is it so badly kept? I dont really like talking to myself, unless I am really high, in which case I enjoy it. But not in this case. The nr.1 reason people would come to this part is the parties/festivals, right? But there are never any listed we could discuss about. We have dozens of parties every week - who takes care of posting the parties and festivals? Who is letting people know what is going on in the community?
Naturally the majority of german trancers will go to forums in their own language (Goa Base etc) but still, the level of information that is provided here could be alot better. Maybe you need a moderator who will keep a good update of parties and festivals in sections which are neglected becuase the ones that are listed represent like 0.00001% of what is actually happening in the scene.
Why is there no seperate section for festivals in the S.E. Asia forum but one for the Germany/other forums? Should there not be a uniform format so people know wether posting parties/events is appropriate or not? Even S.E. Asia Forum is barely alive - again this can not be due to "lack of demand" for information on this region.
I remember when the Germany and Austrian forums were merged, the Austrian trancers wanted to have their own forum, which makes sense. Their scene is big enough as it is so why not? The problem is the same there though, with not enough information about events posted.
Maybe the party/festivals reviews section could become merged in the country sections, allowing people to give feedback on events in their region of the world.
Ie. I think the country sections would get more attention if they would include a complete(!!) and up to date listing of happenings and reviews for events in that region rather than in a seperate (step daughterlerly) treated section.
Anyhow, I am sure whatver direction everything takes it will be fine, the community that has lasted this long will always remain strong in one way or another.
I strongly protest the deletion of the Jacynth thread though, killing the fun is not the way to go, unless you really want to suck the last life out of the forum. |

and what is actually going on in the forum. I see someone really cares about keeping sections up to date. And making this place really seem intersting to newcomers? One album review? Really? Surely such an impressive communication and flow of info will really keep people coming here instead of psynews or elsewhere. There is no love for updates. Look internally for the answers to some questions, which may be more obvious than you think.
It is only the spirit of good members that keeps this place alive. |

Its kind of natural that some foreign sections would be dead, I mean the Israeli section of Goabase.de is not exactly pupming. Not everyone can be in different places at one time.

Either have them or let it be. But if you are going to have them put some care into keeping them updated.

Good and bad certain ways... at least a change!
What i honestly think would be quite good also, is the fact, that maybe its time for a different look? different features ? To quote an example (not naming the forum)... a certain forum, was quite less visited even though it was an important country in terms of psy action... even me, i kind of hardly used to go there.... then they out of nowhere took a break for a week, came back with a new look altogther.... it looked more attractive... and features also suited well..... i noticed that the forum became move active... and more users were pouring in... and is quite a popular one now!
So yes, i wld def. advocate for a new look, simply i think its time to change the look coz it has been lke this for a very very long time! New features, i wld def. recommend adding streaming radio.. and maybe interesting packages for promotions/ads.. apart from the usual.......
