cd reviews are great, but what head state are the reviewers in when they review.

i know i get much more into the music when i'm stoned.i know i cant write when i'm tripping so thats no good for reviewing(even though tripping is when the music sounds best).straight,well sometimes thats just not the right place to be whilst analysing psychedelic music.
but after all that,sometimes the tunes i like at first arent the ones i like later..
whats the head state of choice for getting a true analysis of the cd,or is it so transient that there isnt one??

Though I enjoy listening to music whilst tripping, I can't write at all.. So I'm always 100% sober when writing...

i don't know many people that can write something half-coherent while on the influnce THC. But if the opportunity presents itself, it certainly allows me to create a slightly different value judgement that if i was completly sober (not mention it sharpens the ear a bit). Eitherway, since you should listen to cd more than a couple of times to get an idea first (over the course of a couple of days), it helps me if i balance my 'sober' opinions with with my no so sober opinions. When time arrives to actually start writting down a few ideas, is clear a sober mind works best.
if you ask me, i think a much more interesting question would be to ask how many of the producers get 'inspired' while on the influence of psychedelics and how do they balance this at the time of actually creating something.

i think leary or some one once advised about writing.
one should either write in a stoned state and then edit it later on when not stoned. or one should write in not stoned state and edit it when stoned.

I try to formulate my opinion in multiple mindsets... At first listen, I will be pretty baked while I listen at home on my computer. The second listen is usually at work, sober. The 3rd and 4th is usually at a party when I play out, or when other people are playing it. The mindset can vary there... Finally back at work after listening to it again, I start my review process. I listen to each track while I am writing my review and take all my opinions into consideration while I am writing my review.

My weapnon of choice .. a little wine.. get a small comfy buzz.. open the windows.. turn up the volume.. light urself a cigarette and ur set ..
