These things are totally useless... I think I've only seen two where the cardbox was put to use - Son Kite's album and the Panick album (if I recall right). Every other one is usually just a copy of the regular cover - why are labels wasting this money?

i think the only use for the cardboard thingy
is to keep the actual covers from getting
scratched etc. so it's pretty useless because
you can change the plastic covers if they get
attacked by vicious cats, rodents, party animals etc. etc. (but if the original casing
is a digi pack i understand the extra cover better.)
the extra carboard cover could have more meaning and value if it would have a different design than the official cd cover.

I've never seen a psy releae using this type of case:
http://www.jewelboxing.com/
They'd be real smooth for a prog release.
P.S. I despise digipaks - they're so cheap and easily ruined.

i've seen those kind of jewel boxes mostly
with new reggae releases...
btw: if you handle digipaks with care and
loving nurturing nature like a proper serious
cd collector would they wouldn't get ruined
my favourite casing of all time is
the one that elektrolux used atleast a couple of years ago (haven't bought their releases for some time now)

all cardboard!
